White's a no-brainer – it'll create maximum contrast to give the illusion of a deeper tan. While all-white can work well, why not mix it up with a pair of pants in a warming sunset shade?
If you have quite fair skin, then lighter clothing, which are white or pastel-colored, may not make you look as bronzed as you might think. This is due to the lack of contrast with your skin tone. Orange and Gold

In general, the darker your skin tone, the darker the shade of white you can wear. Cool skin tones (those with blue and pink undertones) work well with classically, bright white (because it also has cool undertones) and pairs well with silver accessories.
According to a study called “Shades of beauty,” light brown skin tones are often the most physically attractive skin color (Frisby et al., 2006). They used four models for that study. Natural Sun Tanning

Genetic factors influencing sunburn and tanning
Certain genes influence melanin production and skin color, affecting whether you tan or burn. People with fair skin have less melanin and are more prone to burning, while those with darker skin have more melanin and are more likely to tan.
