Everyone heals differently, and the length of time will vary depending on how much fluid your tattoo is weeping. When the adhesion of the Saniderm bandage begins to weaken, that's your cue to remove or replace the bandage.
wait until the itchy/dry phase before removing , so about 4-5 days typically. Or when the adhesive begins to get ``kinda old'' and dry.
If your tattoo is exposed at all, you should just take it off. You don't want bacteria getting in and staying trapped under the saniderm. If you don't have anymore to put on, that's fine. Just keep it clean and don't over wash or put on too much moisturizer.
Usually the tattoo will exude plasma, basically will look like a blob underneathe as the skin heals. Completely normal, will go back to it's normal shade once you take it off and give it a clean.
Don't worry! Take the entire saniderm off and start to care for it like it was on the entire time it was recommended. Leaving part on and having part exposed will have your skin heal at different rates and risks bacteria entering the remaining saniderm.
Saniderm should not be worn for more than 7 days total.”
No need to worry if your second skin is peeling off early - jump in the shower and warm water (never hot water straight after being tattooed) will relax and soften the adhesive, allowing you to remove it with ease.
ACCELERATE THE TATTOO HEALING PROCESS – Saniderm tattoo care bandages help prevent scabbing, which means accelerated tattoo healing and less irritation. Less scabbing also means the risk of damaging your tattoo is greatly reduced.
If given one piece of Saniderm:
Your tattoo may look muddy or hazy underneath. Excessive fluid will affect the adhesion of Saniderm. After 3-4 days, remove Saniderm under warm running water, such as a shower.
If it does leak out (and the seal between the second skin and your skin is broken), remove the bandage and continue with aftercare as instructed below.
Your bandage should remain in place for 3-5 days after application. However, early removal may be necessary if you notice: Excessive fluid buildup (more than a soy sauce packet amount) Bandage becoming compromised or detached.
While laser is definitely the best method of removing tattoo ink, certain pigments used in cosmetic tattoos don't respond well to laser treatment. The ingredients in these pigments can be very different from those used in conventional ink, and laser treatment could change the color of some rather than lightening them.
In the first twenty-four hours there may be a build up of blood, ink, and/or plasma underneath the Saniderm. This is completely normal. You do not want to leave the build up for more than one day. Remove Saniderm when there is build up, clean and dry the tattooed area and re-apply.
The Dos. The first night is often the most difficult. It undoubtedly still aches and continues to flow a decent amount of blood, plasma, and more ink. The best course of action is to leave any healing coverings, such as second skin or saniderm, on for the first night (or the first few if it stays put).
During this time there will be a buildup of fluid (plasma, ink, blood) underneath the bandage. This is normal and should remain contained within the Saniderm. Though your tattoo may look blurry, remember that it's just the fluid. Your tattoo is fine.
When the adhesion of the Saniderm bandage begins to weaken, that's your cue to remove or replace the bandage. If you notice excessive weeping or fluid under your currently applied piece of Saniderm, it's okay to carefully replace it with a new one.
SANIDERM METHOD
After Saniderm is applied, leave it on for 3 - 5 days. You can work, exercise, and shower as you would normally, but do not submerge the Saniderm underwater. After you take off the bandage, wash with hypoallergenic soap and apply small amounts of unscented moisturizer.
If you develop a rash, skin irritation, or other signs of an allergic reaction, immediately remove your Saniderm and wash the area with mild soap, then immediately discontinue the use.
Keep in mind that the tattoo may appear to be fully healed on the surface once you remove the last Saniderm bandage after 5 days. However, deeper layers of the skin will still be fully healing for up to 6 months.
* You cannot leave saniderm on your tattoo, if it is leaking. If bacteria can get out of your bandage, it can get in - leaving you susceptible to infection.

If it peels so much that any part of the tattoo is no longer completely covered, take it all off and resume normal tattoo aftercare explained in the section above. If you notice any redness/discoloration, rash, itchiness or any other unpleasant reaction, remove the Saniderm and wash the area immediately.
If fluid continues to build up in significant amounts after the second application, you may remove and reapply a film once more. As mentioned, the second skin is waterproof so you can shower without worrying about your tattoo. Once the 3 to 5 days have passed, it's time to remove the film!
The bandage and area may smell a little bit, this is ok. DO NOT REMOVE BEFORE THE SIXTH DAY. Doing so will result in color loss and can require a touch up at an additional cost. It is harmful to the tattoo and to your health to leave a healing tattoo untreated.
