The height requirements are 5.9 and above for female models and between 5'11" to 6'2" for male models. The fashion industry is very strict and has high, and sometimes unreasonable standards. Since the requirements are not very flexible, it is a hard industry to get into.

You don't need to be tall to become a model. While most models are typically 5'9" to 6", you can still be signed with an agency even if you fall under this height range. Tall models may dominate the high fashion world, but there are plenty of other opportunities out there.
If they work in fashion it is generally with high street brands specialising in petite clothing. It is very rare for a petite model to find high-fashion work on the catwalk or for designer labels – but it isn't impossible. Petite models aren't restricted when finding work.

Editorial and runway fashion models who can attain supermodel status are the highest paid models. Supermodel status comes with a certain degree of celebrity factor that can play a big role in raising a model's fees.
Victoria's Secret has high fashion height requirements: must be between 5 feet 6 inches (1.70 m) and 6 feet (1.85 m). Who measure less than 5 feet 8 inches (1.70 m) is generally not considered.
The modelling industry says it's because nobody would book petite models. The industry says it's because none are available. And round and round we go. The few companies trying to change that, like Bella Petite, are very likely just scamming the women they claim to represent.
