Asian hair shows the fastest growth rate in comparison to the other two hair types. African hair has the lowest growth rate.
A 2005 study in the journal International Journal of Dermatology also found a difference among races in the rate of hair growth. For example, Asian hair grows the fastest, while African hair grows the slowest. Related: Fur, wool, hair: What's the difference?
Black people's hair grows slower than any other ethnic group's hair. According to research hair grows an average of 1.3cm per monthand although it's true tha black people's hair grows slower than this, the difference is not extreme.
Caucasians have the highest hair density among the ethnicities studied. Black people have the lowest. Asian people have hair density that falls somewhere in between.
Caucasian, Asian and Indian hair samples were put to the test for the World's Best Hair study. Their results put an end to any splitting of hairs over the issue: in terms of health, the Indian hair is the best, topping other ethnic groups on all four counts.
Caucasians Lose The Most Hair
In terms of which ethnicity tends to experience the most hair loss, Caucasians are the undisputed leaders.
In general, however, the highest rates of male pattern baldness are found among Caucasian men. The second highest rates belong to Afro-Caribbeans. Native Americans, on the other hand, do not struggle much with male pattern baldness. As mentioned, pattern baldness is genetic, that is, hereditary.
Which ethnicity has the longest hair? Asian hair is the longest. For example, the Red Yao Tribe, living in a village in the Chinese mountains, has the longest hair. Their women can grow hair almost the length of their height.
This may be related to differences in body composition, which is known to differ between ethnic groups. 62, 105 More specifically, black adults were found to have a relatively higher muscle mass (leading to a lower sarcopenia prevalence) compared to whites and Asians.
Black Hair is Easier to Maintain
The darker the hair, the higher the concentration of melanin, therefore, black hair has the highest concentration. The benefit of having excess melanin in hair is it's less prone to sun damage, which is important to Sri Lankans as we are constantly under the sun.
Scientifically, black hair is the slowest growing hair type due to its elliptical shape and only grows about one third of an inch per month. Alongside slow growth, you'll likely also encounter issues such as breakage, thinning and shedding whilst trying to grow your afro hair; typically, this is due to dehydration.
It's a myth that Black hair doesn't grow. All human hair grows at about half an inch a month, depending on your health and genetics. Having long hair is really more about how much hair you retain after breakage. Black hair, because it's curly, can be weaker than straighter hair.
There are two reasons why we believe African hair texture is genetic. Firstly, the texture is universal in Africans, while nearly absent from other ethnic groups. Secondly, it is consistently passed down to the children in each new generation.
Vitamins B and D factor big in healthy hair. So do zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and the B vitamin biotin. Your doctor can test you for deficiencies. Ask them whether you should take a multivitamin or supplement and how much.
The genes for thick straight hair in Asians
Most people of East Asian descent have thick, straight hair.
While no two heads of hair are the same, there are three main classifications of hair type based on race Asian hair, Afro hair and Caucasian hair (which can also be referred to as European hair).
∎ White non-Hispanic or Latino, single race individuals were the most likely to report exercising at least three times per week (58.1 percent) when compared with all other race/ethnic groups. ∎ Males (59.4 percent) were more likely to report exercis ing at least three times per week than females (52.1 percent).
But the evolutionary reasons why hairiness varies with ethnicity are unclear. Caucasian people are generally hairier than the Japanese, for example, even though testosterone levels are the same. The difference seems to be in how sensitive the hair follicles are to those testosterone levels.
Curly hair is not certain to a race or ethnicity, it appears all over the world in many forms. White, brown, black and everything inbetween! There is also a scale on which curly hair is classified (2a-4c).
Unsurprisingly, Caucasians have the most facial hair. You may have expected that, considering that they have the most body hair overall. Black people also have a considerable amount of facial hair. These two races top the list of ethnicities that have the most facial hair.
Genetics (which controls ethnicity) is the number one cause of hair loss. Certain races have higher rates of hair loss compared to others. Caucasians have the highest rates out of all the ethnic groups. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Native American Indians, Inuits, and Chinese have the lowest rates.
Which country has the most baldness? With almost half of the men going bald at 42.79 percent, Baldness is most common in the Czech Republic. Spain stands on the second-highest number in hair losing men at 42.6 percent.
China is a country where the number of people who go bald is very low. Many of the other countries in this region, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Japan, also have very low percentages of male pattern baldness.
