If you have black hair, put the focus on your eyes with smoky shades like charcoal and navy, and keep lips and cheeks subtle with a sheer pink blush. Make eyes smolder with a charcoal-toned liner across your top and bottom lash lines, then go over it with a navy shadow.
Most brunettes, regardless of where they fall on the color spectrum, look good in warm brown, mocha, coffee and light tawny shades of eyeshadows. These colors match almost any eye color, skin tone and outfit. Plum, lavender, and violet colored eyeshadows also flatter most brunettes.
Warm up your complexion:__ "If your skin tone is fair to medium, you can look really washed out with darker hair because the contrast between your skin and your hair color is so much greater. The best way to combat that is to use bronzer to bring out some warmth."
Gold shades: Gold eyeshadow with brown eyes is a winning combination. Most brown eyes have flecks of golden or yellow pigments, especially when they hit the sunlight. Brown eyes also tend to have a natural sparkle, so gold eyeshadows, such as copper, bronze, rose gold, and shimmery yellow, enhance their golden tones.
Redheads look fab in blue and green eyeliner. The bold colors can help instantly brighten up your face and effortlessly complement the rest of your makeup. To get the look in an especially trendy way, use a blue or green eyeliner along your lower lash line for an unexpected pop.
Deep pink and coral matches the energy brought by red hair, while bronze lipsticks give out a warmer look on the lips. Different shades of Red like True Red, Deep Red and Berry Lipsticks match and highlight Redheads even more.
Eye Shadow
Experiment with bright colors, like blue, green, and purple. "A lot of natural redheads have blue or green eyes," says Adrienne. "Because those are the colors redheads usually have in their eyes, they look so flattering with red hair.
Orangey-reds, gold, bark browns and deep forest greens are a terrific complement to brown hair. You also look great in a range of greens — mossy to olive and sage. Nature's best browns are universally flattering to brunettes, who can wear dark chocolate and creamy lighter tones, as well as browns with a reddish cast.
Green, yellow, orange, and red hues also show off the beauty of brown eyes. And bold colors that pop are a safe bet. Green and purple brighten up light brown eyes.
To make your brown eyes appear brighter, go for colored eyeliner in contrasting shades. For instance, think shades of midnight blue and teal, shades of olive and emerald green, shades of vivid purple and soft purple for a regal look, and even grey and charcoal to bring out any gold flecks in your brown peepers.
The simplest thing to match, when it comes to hair and eyebrows is most definitely the black color. If your hair is black, then your eyebrows need to be black too, or at least dark brown.
Look for clean, saturated tones that are bold. Bright pinks and berries, pure lemony yellow, pear green and plum all work beautifully. Avoid muddy and dull colors such as heathered browns and olives, washed-out blues and pastels with yellow undertones.
Deep, rich dark skin tones match well with silky, shiny black hair. True black works well with warmer complexions. You can also look for black shades with blue undertones to bring out the radiant glow of your cheekbones. Don't be afraid to try the deepest midnight available on the color panel!
Use rich lip color
Women with dark brown hair should play with richer colors of makeup instead. Tawny or spicy red lip color looks great on women with medium to dark brown hair. Coral or peach lip and cheek shades are terrific complements to light brown hair.
For Brunette Tones
If you have naturally brown hair, stick with light brown to nude shades that complement both your complexion and your natural hair color. We love the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Loyalist for this reason — it's neutral, pigmented and lasts all day.
The beauty of the color brown is that it's a neutral color, so it pairs beautifully with every color! If you really want to make your brown eyes pop, however, stick with vibrant hues like purple, green, and gold that will provide some much-needed contrast to your dazzling deep amber eyes.
How to make brown eyes pop. With rich brown eyes, the contrast of shades like cobalt blue, teal and turquoise will make your eyes instantly pop. While coppery golden tones are great for highlighting and enhancing your natural brown eyes, particularly when paired with a neutral base.
From light chocolate shades to deep dark hues, brown eyes always make a statement. To complement this eye color, go for purple, grey and silvery shades to really make your brown eyes pop.
If your dark brown eyes have even a pinch of a warm, golden undertone, you can count on gold shadow to bring it out and make them sparkle. Purple is your most flattering contrast shade for the lashes; go for ultraviolet to really electrify things, or play it subtle and earthy with a deep eggplant.
Most women think brunette hair is the sexiest, as 25% of those polled favoured this option. Womens' second preference is blonde, which was voted as the sexiest hair colour by 19.6% of women. Again, red took third spot, accounting for 11.8% of womens' votes.
The complementary colours associated with browns are usually blues, if it is a warmer brown go for a green-blue and a cool brown is a lighter blue. Blues compliment brown and let it shine without overpowering the room.
Avoid pastels since these colors tend to wash out those with red hair. Also avoid most oranges, yellows, and burgundy-reds. (Yellow is the wild card color— on some it looks unbelievably good and others it washes out.) Never be afraid to be bold with the colors you wear.
Ditch heat styling
Colored hair is more vulnerable to heat than natural hair. So while heat styling is damaging to all hair, it's especially harsh on hair that's been dyed. To preserve the life of your red hair color try to avoid styling with heat.
Black liner typically looks best on women with bold, red hair like dark berries and cherries. If you're more of auburn, copper, or strawberry blonde, stick to brown eyeliner as black can be too harsh of a contrast. Pink, taupe and peach eye shadows look gorgeous on you (plums look great on redheads with green eyes!).
