Thyme Kills Acne Bacteria. Compounds found in the herb thyme have antibiotic properties. Now scientists have demonstrated that thyme might have a future role in fighting acne. A number of factors cause acne, but the primary agents are bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes, or PA.
In acne, the bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes (or P. acnes for short) can have an effect on the development acne 'lesions' (e.g. spots). P. acnes lives on the skin and is commonly found within hair follicles, where it feeds on dead skin cells and sebum, which is the oil produced by your skin.
Studies have indicated deficiencies in certain nutrients, such as vitamin D,²⁶ vitamin E,²⁷ and the mineral zinc,²⁸ are more common in patients with acne. However, the relationship between these nutrients and acne is complex and still needs to be fully understood.
Cystic acne treatments include: Antibiotic creams, gels solutions and lotions to kill bacteria and decrease inflammation. Azelaic acid (Azelex®, Finacea®) or salicylic acid to kill bacteria and get rid of excess dead skin cells. Benzoyl peroxide to reduce the number of bacteria on the skin.

Its concentration in Swiss-type cheeses is higher than in any other cheese. Propionibacteria are commonly found in milk and dairy products, though they have also been extracted from soil. P. freudenreichii has a circular chromosome about 2.5 Mb long.
They found that penicillin alone was effective in the eradication of P. acnes biofilm without regrowth [43]. Crane et al. also supported this finding and found that penicillins (penicillin G and amoxicillin) and cephalosporins (cephalothin and ceftriaxone) both showed strong activities against P.
P. acnes may play a role in other conditions, including inflammation of the prostate leading to cancer, SAPHO (synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis, osteitis) syndrome, sarcoidosis and sciatica.
A rich source of vitamin C, lemon juice improves the appearance of your skin and promotes faster healing. Celery too has a lot of vitamin C, which is great for acne clearing as it stimulates collagen production. It also removes any bad waste products from the body that could otherwise contribute to breakouts.
Your body can gradually break down pus and reabsorb its components. That's why small accumulations of pus (like in a pimple) often don't need treatment.
Prednisone is an FDA-approved corticosteroid medication used to manage various health conditions. It works by reducing inflammation, swelling, and pain. Prednisone is typically reserved for severe cases and is often used in combination with other acne treatments, such as benzoyl peroxide or tretinoin.
