For best results we recommend using only the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser and Daily Facial Moisturizer 4 weeks prior and 4 weeks after.
Cetaphil face wash, unscented baby wash, or unscented bar soap (new) are some recommendations. You will be given a small pot of Aquaphor at your appointment. You will be required wash your brows and apply ointment twice a day for the next 10-14 days.
Hi there! Treat microblading like any other wound :) you have to wash them gently with cetaphil or baby shampoo twice a day to prevent scabbing. Scabbing will pull the pigment from the cuts and not give you the results you want. So when you wash your brows, just cup some water in your hands and gently get them wet.
Over the counter Cetaphil may be used following eyebrow microblading w/a clean Q-Tip, once a day for 6 – 7 days following procedure. No Tretinoin or Hydroquinone. Do not rub or pick at the epithelial crust; allow it to flake off on its own. There should be absolutely no scrubbing, cleansing creams, or chemicals.
⭐️When you shower, avoid getting your face wet. Use a brow visor (they are so cute! 😆) when you wash your hair in the shower, pat your brows dry. ⭐️Wash your face in the sink with your normal face wash, everywhere but your brows. Rinse with a wet washcloth to avoid getting your brows wet. Pat dry.
Sweat. For the same reason that water should be avoided during the healing/scabbing process after microblading, sweat should also be avoided. Sweat comes from the inside of the skin and can push the pigment out and cause the microblading strokes not to retain.
Face washes, serums, sprays, exfoliants, moisturizers, etc. SHOULD NOT BE APPLIED UNTIL 14 DAYS AFTER MICROBLADING. Products that are exfoliating or have exfoliating acids or promote cell turnover will cause your microblading to fade.
Protective Barrier: Before swimming, consider applying a protective, water-resistant ointment or barrier cream to your eyebrows. This can serve as an additional layer of protection against water and its constituents. However, always seek guidance from your microblading professional before using any product.
Do not use Vaseline as a moisturiser—only as a water barrier. If your eyebrows do get wet, gently pat them dry with a clean tissue. Keep your hair away from your eyebrows to avoid introducing bacteria.
For about 2 to 10 days following your microblading service, make sure to wash your eyebrows gently (patting motion, not rubbing) each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap such as Dial or a Cetaphil Cleanser. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows.
The worst days after microblading are typically the first two, when you'll likely experience puffiness, redness, and tenderness.
Mineral-Based Sunscreens
The best sunscreens for microbladed eyebrows are mineral-based, containing ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
At the start and end of each day, use your clean fingertips and a mild antibacterial soap, like Cetaphil, to gently cleanse your eyebrows for 10-15 seconds. Avoid using any cleansing products that contain exfoliants or acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA).
Proper aftercare is essential for successful microblading results. Most professionals advise avoiding washing your face for 2-10 days post-treatment, with care needed when cleaning around the brows. On Day 1, blot lymph fluid gently to prevent crusting, and use mild antibacterial soap from Day 2-10 for cleaning.
Aquaphor. There is no doubt that Aquaphor is the most common ointment used to treat dry and itchy skin. Even tattoo artists would agree. As a moisturizer, it heals wounds faster like in the microblading treatment.
What Happens if I Don't Wash My Brows After Microblading? The wound needs to be cleaned. Not cleansing your brows and leaving the fluid dry will cause a crust to form. Some scabbing is normal, but not cleaning off the lymph and leaving the brows dry can lead to excessive scabbing.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment
Alternatively, you can use a different healing ointment like Aquaphor. It's important to make sure there are no added antibiotics or harsh ingredients that can break down pigment in your brows.
Because microblading pigments don't spread as easily, they need to be applied very precisely to ensure they last. Sun exposure: UV rays can cause the pigment to fade more quickly. Retinols, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C serums, and other acids can be detrimental to the pigment's integrity.
As you might imagine, this repeated cutting of the skin leaves you with permanent damage and may even kill your existing hair follicles. Once your skin suffers this kind of trauma, there is no way to repair it. You will have to live with a disfigured face for the rest of your life.
Factors That Affect Microblading Longevity
Oily skin causes faster fading. Proper care extends the life of the pigment. Higher quality pigments last longer. UV rays accelerate fading.
Gentle cleansers like Cetaphil and Cerave are best! Avoid using cleansers that contain oils, acids, scrubs/exfoliants or charcoal. Avoid using bar soap and micellar cleansers as well. Avoid exercise and sweating for at least 10 days.
DAY 1: (day of treatment) Apply Vaseline 2-4 times. Use a cotton swab or cotton pad for this and not your fingertips to avoid the spread of bacteria. Day 2 & 3: When you wake up, gently wipe the area with distilled water on a clean cotton pad. Be careful not to rub the brows hard.
