Be sure to wash off any blood/plasma residue that has surfaced, until the tattoo appears clean and feels smooth, not slimy. We prefer to let it air dry, but if you're in a hurry, you can use a fresh/clean paper towel and gently dab the moisture. Don't use a bath/kitchen towel - they're havens for bacteria.
It's just dried blood it's nothing to worry about. It'll come off as the tattoo heals. No need to try and get it off and possibly damage your tattoo. It won't affect the healing process in any way.
Minimal bleeding can be stopped by applying direct pressure to the wound. It's normal for the tattoo site to ooze small amounts of blood for up to 24 hours and to ooze clear, yellow, or blood-tinged fluid for several days. Apply a cold pack. This can help reduce swelling, bruising, or itching.
Take the second skin off before the plasma fully re-absorbs and gets too tight on your skin. If you leave it on until the wound is fully dry underneath you could have scab marks in the color patches. I wouldn't leave it on longer than 5 days, and make sure you remove it under warm running water, very gently.
Use your clean hands, not a washcloth or towel. Chances are, it's a gross, gooey mess of blood, ink, lymph, and plasma. It's important to clean all of this off, as the plasma will harden and cause excessive scabbing on your tattoo, which might complicate the healing process.
In the first twenty-four hours there may be a build up of blood, ink, and/or plasma underneath the Saniderm. This is completely normal. You do not want to leave the build up for more than one day.
Fresh tattoos sometimes “weep” during the first couple of days, meaning that plasma and ink form a thin moist coating on the skin. This can be DABBED with a clean paper towel. Press the paper towel to the skin and remove. Do not wipe the tattoo or be rough with it.

Is bleeding into the skin serious? Bleeding into the skin is usually minor. If symptoms keep developing in the same area or don't go away within two weeks, it could indicate a more serious condition.
Leaving the bandage on for too long can result in infection, so always change your bandage within the stated timeframe. Most tattoos can be properly healed with 2 applications of the bandage, with each application being left on the skin for 1-2 days, for a 3 or 4 day total.
Stage Two (Days 7-14) – Itching and flaking begins, and this continues until layers of dead skin and scabs have fallen off. 3. Stage Three (Days 15-30) – Tattoo looks fully healed but may look slightly cloudy for a few weeks. Deeper layers of skin are still repairing, so continue to look after your tattoo.
Your new tattoo will probably leak blood and ink, and stain your sheets. It's suggested to use clean but older bed sheets that you don't care about the first few nights after getting your tattoo. Emphasis on clean. Avoid direct sunlight for at least two weeks.
If it does leak out (and the seal between the second skin and your skin is broken), remove the bandage and continue with aftercare as instructed below.
Until the surface of the tattoo is healed (at a minimum of two to three weeks), wash the area gently 2-3 times per day. After cleaning the tattoo during this two to three week period, gently apply a thin coat of a lotion-based care product. We recommend After Inked tattoo moisturizer and aftercare lotion.
Smooth the Second Skin over your tattoo and remove any excess air bubbles with a clean and dry toothpick. You should cut open any bubbles large enough to deal with, without pinching or making contact with your tattoo area.
It's completely normal. The fluid that gets trapped between the skin and the layer of Second Skin is a mixture of Blood, Plasma and Ink.
Slap marks are a fairly characteristic and recognizable form of bruising. Occasionally a full imprint of the hand may be seen. More typically a series of diverging rays, making a fan shape, will be seen.
Is It Better To Use Wet Healing Techniques for a Tattoo? Research suggests that wet healing is superior to dry healing for almost every kind of wound, including a tattoo. Dry skin has a hard time regenerating itself because it gets scabby and crusty and pulls away from itself (ouch).
You can shower 3-4 hours after getting a tattoo, if you have a Saniderm bandage on, however, if you have a plastic wrap wait 24 hours to unwrap your tattoo and shower. In either case, shower in cold or lukewarm water and avoid prolonged soaking or submerging your tattoo in water for 3-4 weeks.

Once broken down, the ink particles enter the lymphatic system and are processed similarly to other waste products. The body filters these particles through the liver and kidneys. While you don't literally “pee out” the ink, the kidneys filter waste, eventually exiting the body through urine.
When the tattoo is dry to the touch, cover it completely with a new piece of plastic wrap, using small pieces of tape as needed to hold it in place. Do NOT use any healing ointment or moisturizer. With this method, the tattoo is kept completely covered with plastic wrap 24 hours a day, usually for 48-72 hours.
