Your results will show up but may take a little time to show their full effect. You will begin to notice your wrinkles starting to fade within three to four days after treatment, and complete results will be visible by 30 days.
Most patients begin to see their results in about four days, which is just slightly longer than with Botox, which offers signs of improvement within 72 hours. Both injectables last anywhere from three to six months, and you can opt to schedule another treatment when the first one wears off.
Is Xeomin or Botox better? Xeomin and Botox both work to smooth the skin and get rid of frown lines. While they are both comparable in effectiveness, some studies have shown that Xeomin has a quicker onset of action and a longer duration.
Stay in a vertical position for four hours following injection. DO NOT “rest your head” or lie down; sit upright. You may apply an ice or cold gel pack to the area(s) treated (avoiding pressure) as this helps reduce swelling and the potential for bruising.
Do NOT rub or massage the treated areas for 4 hours after your treatment. Do NOT practice Yoga or any type of strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Also, avoid facials or saunas for 24 hours after your treatment.
Post Treatment Instructions Dermal Filler
Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area, unless instructed by the provider. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid facial massages or any facial treatments for 1 week post injections. If you have never had Botox, Dysport or Xeomin before it is possible to get a headache after injections; you may take Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Do NOT massage or apply pressure on the treated area for 6-8hrs after treatment since Botox may migrate to areas of undesirable effectiveness. 2. Do NOT lie down for 6 hours after treatment. Also Do NOT lean forward, shower, cook over a hot stove.
Before your Botox treatment, you should avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours. And if you can abstain for the week before the procedure, so much the better. After treatment, avoiding a drink for a couple of days helps you heal optimally and get the most out of your injections.
Therefore, in order to ensure you can begin enjoying the fantastic results as soon as possible, and with minimal bruising, we would most definitely advise that you do not consume alcohol in the lead up to your botox treatment – or at least 24 hours after having any treatment.
Xeomin® is the latest cosmetic injectable approved by the FDA to treat facial lines and wrinkles. Xeomin®, like Botox® and Dysport®, are commonly used to treat dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles include the forehead lines, fine lines around the eyes, and the furrows between the eyebrows.
You will begin to notice your wrinkles starting to fade within three to four days after treatment, and complete results will be visible by 30 days.
Both the Dysport and Botox molecules contain a complexing protein. On the other hand, Xeomin is “naked” and experts consider it the purest injectable. This gives Xeomin an advantage for persons with skin sensitivities as there are fewer proteins to interact with the body.
The treatment results can last between three and six months. The longevity of the effects is similar to that of other treatments like Botox.
The total recommended Xeomin dose is 20 Units per treatment session divided into 5 equal intramuscular injections of 4 Units each. The 5 injection sites are: 2 injections in each corrugator muscle and one injection in the procerus muscle.
Patients should also avoid allowing Xeomin to migrate to other areas of the face. This can be done by avoiding massaging or rubbing the injection area for several hours after treatment. Side effects are minimal but may include drooping of the eyebrows or eyelids. This is temporary and will improve within a few weeks.
Xeomin® injections do involve a needle, so you will feel a pinch upon administration. Most people find the treatments pretty tolerable. In fact, the treatment is over so quickly that you barely notice any pain.
In clinical trials of XEOMIN® for the treatment of frown lines between the brows, headache was the most common side effect. XEOMIN® may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks of taking XEOMIN®.
About Bruising and Swelling
About 50% of people injected Dermal fillers and 10% injected with BOTOX®, Dysport® or Xeomin® will bruise. It is hard to predict who will bruise, how large or dark the bruise will be and how long it will take for the bruising to go away.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors may increase risk of bruising and swelling).
It is not recommended to dye your hair right after a botox treatment. A wait-time of at least 2 weeks should be applied before you dye your hair to avoid any unwanted side effects. The chemicals present in permanent dyes can irritate hair cuticles and reduce the lasting power of the botox treatment.
It's highly recommended that you move your face around a lot after getting Botox. This includes smiling, frowning, and raising your eyebrows. It's similar to facial exercises, minus the touching. Facial movement may look — and feel — silly, but it actually helps the Botox work better.
Xeomin® may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to Xeomin® may include: itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint.
Botox should last between 3 to 4 months. After that time, you should see the effects of treatment begin to wear off. Xeomin will also last roughly three months. However, some patients have seen continued results right up to 6 months.
Otherwise, Botox and Xeomin are virtually interchangeable. Both will last 3 to 6 months. Because Xeomin is new to the market, it is priced better. At $9 per unit, a treatment that would cost $300 in Botox will cost $225 with Xeomin.
