As mentioned, the second skin is waterproof so you can shower without worrying about your tattoo. Once the 3 to 5 days have passed, it's time to remove the film! If it proves to be difficult to remove, you can lightly apply warm water to the area as you pull it off (e.g. in the shower).
You should not go swimming with second skin on. It's fine to take a shower with it but definitely not swimming.
SecondSkin bandages are waterproof and breathable. While we recommend avoiding prolonged submersion in water – baths, pools, and ocean – warm showers and handwashing will not seep into the healing area.
While SecondSkin™ is waterproof, you should never submerge a new tattoo in water. This includes pools, hot tubs, baths, lakes, oceans, and puddles. Showers are ok though.
Sweat Buildup Inside SecondSkin
During a rigorous workout, you may notice sweat accumulating beneath the SecondSkin bandage. While SecondSkin is breathable, it's not designed to wick away a large amount of sweat, which can create an environment conducive to bacterial growth.

Either way, please make sure to keep the area clean and safe for yourself and others. Second skin bandage is water proof and breathable. Shower is fine. Avoid high heat temperatures.
SANIDERM AFTERCARE:
You can shower with the bandage but avoid soaking it or submerging it in water (no swimming or baths). If water gets under the bandage, remove it immediately and continue with the normal aftercare routine.
Provided the wearer does not have an allergy to adhesives, second skin is arguably the greatest game-changer in the tattoo industry, making the healing process faster, safer and more efficient!
SANDIDERM / TEGADERM / TATTOODERM / SECOND SKIN:
During this time, the tattoo may look blurry due to excess blood and/or plasma that may leave the skin. It may look like a blob of ink, but this is totally normal! After the recommended amount of days, slowly remove the film with clean hands.
Some people are allergic to the adhesive on second skins and prefer not to use it. Also, if I'm tattooing a very large area or a tattoo that has very heavy black areas in it, I will sometimes opt not to use second skin on you. I will spray your tattoo down with a first aid spray and then wrap it in saran wrap.
Once your tattoo is dry, the skin around the area will begin to feel tight. This happens as your tattoo dries out, and it's a good indicator that it's time to apply moisturizer. Once again, we use and recommend Sanibalm for this. Rub it in gently until it's absorbed by the skin — be sure to apply a very thin layer.
It is latex-free, waterproof, breathable, and hypoallergenic. The original tattoo bandage - and still the best! SecondSkin™ is a medical-grade, transparent, adhesive barrier that protects new tattoos. It is latex-free, waterproof, breathable, and hypoallergenic.
How long do I keep my second skin on for? Please note that different second skin brands vary so the instructions you receive from your tattooist may vary too. Roxxi Poolroom recommends it stays put for a minimum of 1-2 days, and a maximum of 7 days. It's not advised to keep your bandage applied for 7 days.
Tattoos are essentially open wounds, and exposing them to water too soon can lead to bacterial infections, skin irritation, and even damage to the tattoo design. Therefore, tattoo artists recommend waiting at least 2-4 weeks before submerging your new ink in swimming pools, hot tubs, or open water.
If it does leak out (and the seal between the second skin and your skin is broken), remove the bandage and continue with aftercare as instructed below.
SECOND - SKIN
It's water resistant, so you can shower with it, but avoid prolonged water exposure. Wear loose clothing too if you can, to avoid abrasion to the area. While you're wearing the second-skin, you might notice the surface underneath accumulating slight moisture, which can make the tattoo look blurry.
Applying a second skin to a new tattoo often leads to common problems like wrinkles, peeling, and incorrect coverage, which can affect how well your tattoo heals. If not done right, the dressing might not protect the tattoo properly, or it could trap too much moisture, leading to irritation or even infection.
Is It Better To Use Wet Healing Techniques for a Tattoo? Research suggests that wet healing is superior to dry healing for almost every kind of wound, including a tattoo. Dry skin has a hard time regenerating itself because it gets scabby and crusty and pulls away from itself (ouch).
SecondSkin is a semi-waterproof bandage so you can shower like normal during this time. It's alright if the SecondSkin gets wet but you cannot soak (no bathtubs, hot tubs, pools, etc.).
Although you can easily wash after applying Saniderm, it is important to still monitor the time you spend in the shower. Prolonged exposure to water will weaken the adhesion, so avoid soaking. As with all tattoo aftercare regulations, you should avoid submerging your tattoo in any body of water.
These unique 'second-skin' bandages are designed to provide superior protection and healing, and currently, we are using Hypafix, Ultraderm, and Dynarex. Your bandage is waterproof, so you can shower and carry on with life as usual, but it's not recommended to submerge your new tattoo fully underwater.
While we don't recommend taking a bath or going swimming after applying your Saniderm, taking a shower isn't an issue. If you get your Saniderm wet, it's no big deal! Saniderm stays on skin even when wet.
Showering while wearing Saniderm is fine, but it's best to keep the time spent in the shower to a minimum. Bathing, swimming, or fully submerging a tattoo dressed in Saniderm is strongly discouraged. Light exercise while wearing Saniderm is fine, but avoid activity that causes excessive sweating.
