Yes, hand tattoos are still considered unprofessional, especially finger tattoos. I do voice-over work from home and waited until I was essentially my own boss before getting hand/finger tattoos. I still worry about if I'll have to return to the normal workforce someday and how my tattoos will impact that.
it is COMPLETELY fine to get a hand or a finger tattoo. BUT I strongly advise NOT to get a tattoo on the INSIDE of your finger as that does not last and fades VERY quickly. If you get fingers get the tops of your knuckles done. Also, good tattoos are NOT cheap and cheap tattoos are NOT GOOD! You get what you pay for!
