Are lip fillers permanent? Lip fillers aren't permanent. They slowly wear away over time, usually 12 to 18 months after you get them, depending on your metabolism. You may need routine touch-up treatments to maintain your desired volume.
Patients tend to report that lip swelling is the worst the first day after their injection, particularly in the morning. Swelling should go down within 2–3 days after your lip filler treatment, and should subside completely within 2 weeks post-treatment.

That really depends on what filler was used. Most of the time, HA based fillers (Juvederm, Restylane ) last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. In some individuals, they last a bit shorter or longer. Some other fillers such as Sculptra can last 2 years, but usually that is not a first choice for lip augmentation.

Straight After Lip Filler
Despite the lips being injected with filler, they actually should not swell dramatically straight after the procedure. The lips should appear as they will do once the post-treatment swelling (which can arrive later) has diminished – so you should see your lips exactly as the finished product.
Many times we have new patients coming into our practice who has had filler elsewhere and is not satisfied, if the problem is asymmetry, this is usually corrected either by adding filler or dissolving a hyaluronic acid filler with the enzyme hyaluronidase, which can be used even months after initial injection.
You can get repeat treatments every six months. Scientists have found that hyaluronic acid injections prompt the skin to produce more collagen, creating more natural plumpness in the lips.
If you can only feel the lumps and not see them, then panic even less, because this isn't usually a problem. If you can see the lumps. Keep your eye on them. Perform gentle massage (only if recommended by your doctor) and if you can still see a lump at 2 weeks, contact your doctor.
While side effects are extremely rare, there is a small change of having an allergic reacting to the hyaluronic acid fillers. Since this is natural component of your body, the chances are rare. Bruising and temporary swelling may happen in the days immediately after filler.
