Hyaluronic acid filler will dissolve on with time, whether it's in its original location or not. It's not harmful if it moves, but aesthetically, it isn't the desired result.
Will migrated filler go away on its own? In theory, yes, but the reality is a bit more complicated. When we dissolve fillers we inject an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is naturally occurring in your body and this is the reason that lip fillers will eventually dissolve on their own.
If filler migration does happen, hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be safely, effectively dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Ultimately, the key to successful filler treatments is finding a balance between sufficiently correcting your skin concerns while maintaining natural-looking results.
In some cases, gentle massaging and time may help redistribute the migrated lip filler. However, professional assistance using hyaluronidase injections, which dissolve hyaluronic acid-based fillers, is recommended for a more precise and effective correction.
1. Migration Consideration: Mild Migration: If the migration is very slight and doesn't significantly affect the overall shape or appearance of your lips, you may not need to dissolve them at all. A skilled injector can often correct the issue by carefully placing filler in the right areas to balance things out.
In some cases, the migrated filler may self-resolve over time. It's best to see a qualified provider experienced in treating migration complications. Don't attempt to massage or dissolve migrated filler on your own, as improper technique could worsen the situation.
Countries should promote stability, education and employment opportunities and reduce the drivers of forced migration, including by promoting resilience, thereby enabling individuals to make the choice between staying or migrating.
Fillers around the mouth and eyes are most likely to migrate, more so than dermal fillers in the cheeks or the jawline. Dermal filler for smile lines and dermal filler for under eyes are most likely to migrate because they are in areas of your face that move the most as you change facial expressions and talk.
Increasing Physical Activity: Engaging in exercise can boost circulation and metabolism, potentially helping your body break down fillers at a faster rate. Steam and Sauna: Regular exposure to heat and steam may stimulate blood flow, potentially speeding up the body's natural breakdown of fillers.
Avoiding Physical Disturbance to Facial Fillers
Resist the urge to touch, poke, or massage the treated area after your nose filler treatment or any other type of filler. Applying pressure or disturbing the treated area can potentially displace the filler, leading to suboptimal results.
Dissolving filler that's migrated
“The second option is using hyaluronidase to break down the filler in the area affected,” explains Dr Kal. “This is quick and effective if the patient has no contraindications for treatment.”
“Pillow face” occurs when too much filler is injected into areas like the cheeks, nasolabial folds (the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth), lips, and under-eye area. This repeated overfilling can result in a bloated, round appearance that looks far from natural.
The dissolving process appears similar to the filler injecting process—but with a much different experience, and significantly lower price point, ranging from $300 to $600. A dissolving enzyme called hyaluronidase (Hylenex or Vitrase) is required, and from there it's injected under the skin and into the area of filler.
Sometimes filler can seep out of the lip into the skin above the lip. These cases are often easily resolved by applying a little reversal agent to the areas that have unwanted filler.
Any overcorrection resulting from the loss of your own hyaluronic acid will usually be temporary and is expected to resolve within a few days. The breakdown of the dermal filler will be permanent. Please contact your provider if redness, tenderness, itching, or swelling worsens after 3 days, rather than resolving.
As we've established, your body can break down hyaluronic acid on its own. As such, slight dermal filler migration might fix itself over time. But this may take many months without help since most fillers last 6-12 months in the lips. More significant problems, like overfilling, usually need treatment.
Hyaluronidase is highly effective in reversing filler treatments and restoring a natural appearance. In the filler dissolving process, hyaluronidase is injected into the areas where the unwanted filler is present.
The application of heat and steam within the early stages of the dermal filler introduction can break down the filler, which could impact on your overall results. Therefore it is advisable that you avoid having a hot shower, bath or sauna 48 hours after treatment to prevent any unwanted breakdown of the product.
I would say 80% of patients request time to allow it to naturally dissipate, however migrated filler typically will not dissolve on its own, or at least within any reasonable amount of time. Attempting to place additional filler in a case of migration will only exacerbate the situation and lead to unappealing results.
Follow post-treatment instructions carefully
Afterward, we provide you with instructions on how to care for the treatment area. The most important things to remember to prevent filler migration are: Don't rub your skin and avoid touching the area. If you apply ice to reduce minor swelling, do so gently.
Note: Internal migration movements can be temporary or permanent and include those who have been displaced from their habitual place of residence such as internally displaced persons, as well as persons who decide to move to a new place, such as in the case of rural–urban migration.
Migration can be voluntary or involuntary and can occur for a variety of different reasons, including economic, environmental and social issues.
Migration helps in improving the quality of life of people. It helps to improve social life of people as they learn about new culture, customs, and languages which helps to improve brotherhood among people. Migration of skilled workers leads to a greater economic growth of the region.
