Maybe there's some science behind the dramatic eyebrow trend after all. A new study finds that facial features, like lips and eyebrows, tend to stand out less as people get older. Because of that, the authors say, people perceive faces with more contrast as younger.
“Thin brows can tend to make you look older, and can give a harsh or unflattering look to any face,” says Ursula Cervellone from Feather Brow Couture. “Making sure your brows have more depth and thickness than a thin pencil line will help any face appear younger.
According to a study published by Frontiers, the more defined and dark a set of eyebrows are, the younger the woman is thought to be. Sounds good to us. A group of people were shown over 800 photos of women aged between 20 and 80.
Just like a new hairstyle, a set of well-defined brows can trim away (literally) the years and help you to look younger than you actually are. Thick, bushy brows are a sign of youth. As you age, the natural ageing process thins the hair on the body whether it is the hair on your head or on your face.
Full, dramatic brows can provide shape and symmetry to the face. Thick brows appear more youthful than sparse brows, and they frame the eyes naturally and beautifully.

Eyebrows frame the face in a way that softens and balances a look. If you choose too bold of a brow and your face has delicate features it will overpower your those features. Therefore, women with longer faces may choose a flat eyebrow shape to create the illusion of a shorter, more balanced face.
Light eyebrows age you. The tails of the brows get lighter and thinner with age, and you may also notice some patchy areas. Fill the tail area in with a brow pencil, and then go over the whole eyebrow with tinted brow gel. For patchy spots, fill in with brow powder to make your arches appear fuller.
Javid Sadr, who worked on the Perception study with other researchers, told Yahoo Health that the process of waxing, tweezing, and shaping one's eyebrows to look thinner enhances gender differences between men and women. This makes a woman appear more feminine.
