Wait at least a month. Longer if you can but generally 1 month you should be okay.
Usually 2-3 weeks is fine after getting a tattoo. As long as it's healed, just be careful while shaving.
I would personally wait 3 weeks from your session. Better safe than sorry. Not using scented soaps might also include scented shaving creams.
Follow the aftercare write up from the r/tattoos sidebar. Wait about two weeks before shaving the area.
When can you shave over a tattoo you've just got? We'd advise you to wait at least two weeks before shaving over tattoos that are new. Nevertheless, it is better to be cautious! Waiting for three weeks or even longer to pass so the surface of your skin can fully heal is often desirable.
Tattoo ink gets injected into the dermis and does not affect hair follicles. During the healing process, hair growth may be delayed for a short time but will continue to grow again once the skin has recovered.
Nair™ hair removal creams will not affect tattoos.
You could remove the ink, cause scarring, or cause your tattoo to become infected. Your skin is pretty tough when it's fully healed, but a tattoo leaves it defenseless for a little while. In addition to damaging your tattoo and introducing bacteria into an open wound, shaving over a new tattoo would be very painful.
Sometime between two to four weeks after getting a new tattoo – when your tattoo scabs and/or peels - your new ink may appear more faded and duller than expected. Don't worry, this is completely natural.
You can shower 3-4 hours after getting a tattoo, if you have a Saniderm bandage on, however, if you have a plastic wrap wait 24 hours to unwrap your tattoo and shower. In either case, shower in cold or lukewarm water and avoid prolonged soaking or submerging your tattoo in water for 3-4 weeks.
Eaves recommends allowing your new tattoo anywhere between two weeks to a month to fully heal before shaving (you can find his tattoo aftercare tips here) — this means no scabbing, peeling or shininess on or around the site of the tattoo.
Nair doesn't reach down too deeply, but it does a pretty decent job of eliminating hair slightly below the skin, so the timetable for hair regrowth is a bit long. Depending on the length of hair and thickness of hair, it can take anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months for hair to grow back.
After a few days, these effects might start to dim a bit because your skin has started to get used to the ink. It will still look great as long as you take care of it and let it heal properly. Your tattoo will naturally fade over time.
You should continue washing your tattoo until it is fully healed. It is considered fully healed when all scabs have fallen off, and the skin has regenerated and closed up. This process generally takes between 2 to 4 weeks.
"Although, if any knicks or ingrown hairs occur from shaving, these issues can cause excess irritation and scabbing, which can lead to premature fallout or fading of the ink." Play on the safe side and go as long as you can without shaving, or at least until your tattoo is fully healed.
Extreme weight fluctuations can cause your skin to stretch, which can affect the appearance of your tattoo. Maintaining a healthy weight can help to prevent this. Tattoos placed on body parts that are less likely to change with weight or muscle gain (like your back, shoulder, or forearm) are less likely to stretch.
