Don't wear tight or non-breathing clothes to avoid infection: waxed skin needs air. Avoid perfumed products on the waxed skin. Avoid touching the waxed skin: the empty follicles are easily infected by bacteria and need some time to settle down and close. No oil-based or tanning products.
Breathable Fabrics
In our experience, cotton is your best friend post-wax. It's a natural fabric that allows your skin to breathe and helps keep the area dry and cool. When getting a bikini wax or a Brazilian wax, you should avoid synthetic fabrics like polyester or spandex as they can cause sweating and irritation.
Per my experience and what my esthy tells me, try not to shower for 24 hours after your wax. I find that avoiding hot, sweaty, rubbing activities (sex, exercise, tight underwear or leggings) for 48 hours after is key to preventing irritation and ingrowns.
DO NOT touch the waxed area for at least 6 hours. Directly after waxing your hair follicle is left open.
Yes, a Brazilian wax does include the inner lips. After doing a Brazilian wax ourselves, we can confirm that a true Brazilian wax aims to remove all hair from the front, back, and everything in between. This includes the more delicate areas like the inner lips.
As a general rule of thumb: a Brazilian wax lasts around three weeks before stubble appears. That all depends on your hair growth cycle – we'll explain more below. By the end of 4 to 6 weeks, you'll notice your hair is grown out, and it's time for another session.
Avoid showers and baths for the next 24 hours to give your skin time to heal. Also, wait a day after your wax before you have sex. That includes oral sex.
DON'TS: THE FIRST 24 HOURS AFTER YOUR WAX:
Avoid saunas or steam baths. Don't swim. Don't wear tight or non-breathing clothes to avoid infection: waxed skin needs air. Avoid perfumed products on the waxed skin.
Plucking the hair out with a tweezer is much more practical, allowing more precision and taking the hair from the root rather than leaving a blunt end. Clients can do the same if they find new hairs after a wax, but it's best to leave these hairs alone after the fourth day following treatment.
Avoid hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for at least 24 to 48 hours post-wax. Wear Loose Clothing: Tight clothes can rub against your sensitive skin, causing irritation or ingrown hairs. Stick to loose, breathable fabrics like cotton for the first few days after waxing.
In order to effectively access all the areas in which your pubic hair grows, your technician will need you completely naked from the waist down. Once your clothes have been placed to the side, you will be laid on a table, knees bent in what's known as the butterfly position.
Please be aware that you may not be 100% smooth the very first time you wax. Because of the different hair growth cycles, your hair may grow back "patchy". The more consistent you are, the smoother you'll be. There are many benefits to maintaining a regular hair removal cycle.
-If getting a Brazilian wax, NO UNDERWEAR for 12 hours after and AT NIGHT (for at least 4 nights but better always). Be prepared to go home with no underwear on.
Using Cold Water to Tighten Pores
Ice therapy is a simple and effective way to achieve pore minimization and skin benefits post-waxing. The cold water constricts the blood vessels, reducing redness and swelling. It also helps to soothe the skin, making it less prone to reactions.
Ingrown Hairs & Irritation: Brazilian waxes can come with some unpleasant (or even painful) side effects like ingrown hairs, skin redness and irritation without the proper preparation or after-care.
As for whether Brazilian waxing makes you wet, there is no definitive answer. Some women say that the sensation of having their pubic hair removed is arousing, while others find it to be uncomfortable. If you're considering getting a Brazilian wax, we suggest you do some research to see if it's right for you.
motion equals friction, which can lead to ingrowns & irritation. NO skinny jeans, leggings, or tight clothing for at least 24-48 hours post wax. If you are getting a brazilian wax, i recommend bringing a clean pair of underwear to put on after your wax.
Brazilian (9/10)
Pain Level: Brazilian waxing is often considered the most painful type due to the extreme sensitivity of the area involved. Tips: Consider using a numbing cream (consult with your esthetician first). Recovery: Sensitivity may last 2-3 days. Avoid hot baths and exercise for 24 hours post-wax.
If you only wear pads, I advise you to schedule your wax for when you're not on your period. The reason for this is that the freshly waxed area will become very easily irritated from the wearing of a disposable pad after your wax.
Why aren't my legs smooth after my wax? Dry skin and/or hair breakage. SO much of this can be prevented or reduced with exfoliating and moisturizing. When you wax an area of your body that has dry skin, when the hair gets pulled out, the dry, dead skin around that follicle gets disrupted and feels like a bump.
The skin's natural reaction to the trauma of hair removal can also lead to itching. When hair is removed, especially by methods like waxing or plucking, the skin responds as it would to any other injury. It initiates a healing process that often includes inflammation and the release of histamines.
