You'll complete as many Hand-Release Push-Ups as possible in two minutes. The HRP assesses the Muscular Endurance component of fitness by measuring a Soldier's upper body endurance. The HRP is a strong driver for upper body and core strength training. Flexibility is a secondary component of fitness assessed by the HRP.
“THE PUSH-UP EVENT MEASURES THE ENDURANCE OF THE CHEST, SHOULDER, AND TRICEPS MUSCLES. ON THE COMMAND, 'GET SET', ASSUME THE FRONT-LEANING REST POSITION BY PLACING YOUR HANDS WHERE THEY ARE COMFORTABLE FOR YOU. YOUR FEET MAY BE TOGETHER OR UP TO 12 INCHES APART (MEASURED BETWEEN THE FEET).
SCORING: In accordance with AR 350-1, all Soldiers must attain a score of at least 60 points in each event and an overall score of at least 180 points. Soldiers in Basic Combat Training must attain 50 points in each event and an overall score of 150 points.
The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is used to evaluate a Soldier's physical fitness. The test consists of six events, administered in the following order: Three Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand-Release Push-up, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, and Two-Mile Run.
Marines have it the hardest, running three miles, doing pull-ups and crunches within the span of a two-hour evaluation period. The Army has its troops run two miles, plus two minutes of pushups and situps. There are similar requirements for the Navy, the Air Force, and the Coast Guard.
A minimum passing score for each ACFT event is 60 points, for a total score of 360 for all six events. The required minimum score is the same for all Soldiers, regardless of career field.
For male soldiers in the National Guard, 96% passed the ACFT and 11% scored 540 or above, while 90% of female Guard soldiers passed and 7% achieved that high score. For the Army Reserve, 95% of male soldiers passed and 10% scored at least 540, while 90% of their female counterparts passed and 6% scored 540 or above.
According to a RAND Corporation report, pass rates for enlisted men range from 83% to 92%, while male officers have pass rates between 86% to 96%.
First, your Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score determines your eligibility to join and requires a score of at least 31 to enlist. Second, your ASVAB category scores—also called line scores—determine job opportunities across different career categories.
You can look up your ACFT score using the ACFT Calculator and ACFT Score Viewer. Fill in the DA Form 705-TEST: Army Combat Fitness Test Scorecard using the ACFT Scoring Scales.
30 second push-up test aimed to measure the strength and endurance of the arm muscles with the facilities used in the form of a mat, whistle, stopwatch and writing instruments.
That's just to pass. The “Great” score is 110, the “Gold” is 120 or more.

57 reps. 10 reps. 53 reps. You'll need to score a minimum of 60 points on each event to pass the ACFT with a total score of 360.
But if you fail the ACFT, you will be sent home, regardless of your academic scores. The Guard may be deployed at any time. Being ready to go from citizen to Soldier at a moment's notice means constant physical fitness.
Highly Qualified looks like: SSG: ACFT score of 480 or above with 80 points in each event SFC: ACFT score of 480 or above with 80 points in each event MSG: ACFT score of 480 or above with 80 points in each event CSM/SGM: N/A.
The proportions of failures among the events were, LTK: 6.09%, 2MR: 5.00%, SPT: 4.74%, DL: 3.33%, HRP: 2.39%, SDC: 2.00%. 2MR was the only event significantly associated with MSKI risk (HR[95%CI]: 1.33[1.07-1.70], p = 0.009). CONCLUSIONS: The ACFT is a novel assessment to quantify a SM's physical abilities.
For those unfamiliar, a score of 600 is the highest anyone can have in the ACFT and that perfect score is what Cadet Carmichael scored on this recently concluded ACFT. Congratulations Cadet Carmichael, we are proud of your success! Congratulations!
