Skin pinch blepharoplasty is a minor excision (removal) of a small amount of excess skin from the lower eyelid. It is less extensive than a formal lower eyelid blepharoplasty and is less likely to weaken lower eyelid support.
Lower blepharoplasty can reshape or remove the fat while tightening the skin around the eyes. This results in a brighter, more rested, and more youthful appearance. Upper blepharoplasty can eliminate loose skin and fat above the eye.
A skin pinch is a cosmetic procedure that can help smooth away excess skin while preserving the delicacy of the under-eye area. Skin pinch is often performed under local anesthesia to ensure each patient is completely comfortable during their procedure. The process typically takes around 45 minutes to perform.
Lower eyelid surgery tightens and smooths the skin beneath the lower eyelid to treat a number of cosmetic blemishes, including: Drooping lower eyelids. Loose skin.
What do scars after upper eyelid surgery look like? Once the incisions have closed, your blepharoplasty scars will begin to fade from red to pink, ultimately ending up white or skin-colored. In most cases, upper eyelid surgery scars are virtually invisible. In fact, many patients are unable to identify their own scars!
Sleep in a correct position
After blepharoplasty, we recommend that you sleep on your back with your head elevated for at least 3-4 weeks. This helps reduce eyelid swelling and speeds up recovery.
The best way to hide any bruising or swelling after your eyelid surgery is to wear your favorite sunglasses. These shades will be more than a fashion statement. They will protect your wounds from the sun and conceal any after-effects visible during the initial stage of your recovery.
Abboud performs. Cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty (under eye bag surgery) involves the surgical removal and/or repositioning of the fat under the eyes and, if necessary, removal or tightening of any redundant lower eyelid skin.
Excess, loose upper eyelid skin may even interfere with your vision. However, blepharoplasty won't remove crow's feet or other wrinkles, eliminate dark circles under your eyes, or lift sagging eyebrows. While it can add an upper eyelid crease to Asian eyes, it will not erase evidence of your ethnic or racial heritage.
Eyelid surgery does not remove crow's feet. Blepharoplasty improves the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids, but does not extend to areas adjacent to the eyes.
Upper blepharoplasty is a procedure that involves resection of redundant skin and/or musculature of the upper eyelid. Aging of the Upper Eyelid/Brow Complex. With aging, a patient may notice the upper lids feel “heavy.” This can be caused by the eyebrow descending, upper eyelid skin excess, or both.
Blepharoplasty Procedure
Typically, general anesthesia is not necessary for blepharoplasty, although the anesthesia used will be tailored to the patient's comfort level and the type of procedure(s) being performed.
The results will typically last from anywhere between 5-7 years. Lower lid blepharoplasty rarely needs to be repeated. If you notice your eyelids begin to sag again over time, you may benefit from a brow lift rather than another eyelid surgery.
The average cost of cosmetic eyelid surgery is $4,120, according to 2020 statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
One can qualify for eyelid surgery, covered by medical insurance, if it is deemed medically necessary. The main reason cited is impaired vision is caused by excess upper eyelid skin which can make everyday activities such as driving, reading and using telecommunication devices much more hazardous.
What Is the Ideal Age for Blepharoplasty? Droopy eyelids appear when you get beyond 30. This is the ideal age for blepharoplasty, though younger people can also go through it. However, most plastic surgeons recommend one to be at least 18 to undergo the procedure.
Your eyelids will probably look puffy after surgery. The incisions will probably look red, too. The swelling and bruising involved with blepharoplasty recovery tend to resemble a black eye.
So, blepharoplasty can dramatically rejuvenate your face and eyes. It will turn back the years and return your eye appearance to that of a younger you. But eye surgery cannot give you an eye shape that is not natural for you.
Possible risks of eyelid surgery include: Infection and bleeding. Dry, irritated eyes. Difficulty closing your eyes or other eyelid problems.
SUTURES: Dr. Zubowski will remove sutures 4-6 days after surgery, and will place adhesive strips (Steri-Strips) over the part of the incisions that extends outward from your eyelids. These remain in place for several days.
After about two weeks, the majority of bruising and swelling will have resolved, though some patients may experience mild discomfort, swelling, or tightness for a while longer.
Usually, you'll want to wait a bit longer after the surgery before you start wearing real eye makeup, such as mascara or eyeshadow. Your situation may be different, but it's often recommended that you wait about two weeks before putting on eye makeup after your surgery.
I often do the injection of Botox about a week before surgery as this reduces the muscle action, which can also help with the healing after blepharoplasty. However, if you prefer to have the Botox done about two to four weeks after blepharoplasty, then that is suitable as well.
Drink plenty of fluids in the form of water and fresh juices for the first few days after surgery. Reduce caffeine and carbonated drink intake in the first few days. You should abstain from alcohol during the first week following surgery.
