You can talk with a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon about hair grafts that target your eyebrows. These types of grafts use your existing hair follicles to fill in thin spots and encourage regrowth.
“While it depends on many factors, including the tweezers you use, how often you pluck and how traumatic it is for your hair, you won't be stuck with thin eyebrows forever,” says dermatologist Shilpi Khetarpal, MD. “Most of the time, they grow back.”
Clients with sparse brows will most likely benefit from a brow tinting treatment. By applying dye to the brows, the finer, lighter hairs will grab the colour too, helping to fill in gaps and make the brows appear thicker. Henna brow treatments are also a great tinting option for sparse brows.
Those choosing a pencil will find that they're great for filling in sparse spots. Work their magic by lightly holding the pencil and drawing hair strokes in the sparse areas. You can also use a stiff angled brush or an eyebrow brush here to soften the lines as needed.
Makeup artist Cara Lovello agrees: “Castor oil is said to help with eyebrow hair regrowth. The vitamins in the castor oil nourishes the hair follicles.” Another one of its star components is ricinoleic acid, an ingredient that has been said to improve blood circulation.
Unfortunately, there's little to no evidence that any of the ingredients in Vaseline, which is a brand name for petroleum jelly, can grow thicker or fuller eyebrows. However, Vaseline is very moisturizing and may actually help eyebrows look fuller and thick, even if they're actually growing at the same rate.
“Rogaine—also known as minoxidil—is an effective way to improve hair growth, including eyebrow hair,” says Dr. Engelman. “While this treatment may be effective, the skin around your eyebrows is thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your head,” she adds.
A. Yes, it is definitely possible to regrow eyebrow hair. Years of plucking, threading or waxing may make it difficult to get eyebrows to grow quickly or go back to its natural shape, but by using effective natural remedies, it is definitely possible to thicken your brows and make them look fuller.
Normal aging processes
As people get older, they may notice hair thinning or loss affecting the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, and elsewhere. Over time, some hair follicles stop producing hair, and the hair shafts become finer.
Corticosteroids in either topical, injectable, or pill form can be used to treat alopecia areata, eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis by reducing inflammation and immune response. Topical, contact-sensitizing chemicals may be effective for eyebrow hair loss by eliciting an allergic response that prompts hair growth.
Specific causes for eyebrow hair loss include: Alopecia areata – The same autoimmune disease that is oftentimes responsible for scalp hair loss can also affect your eyebrows. In this case, your immune system mistakenly targets and attacks your eyebrow follicles, thereby slowing or halting eyebrow hair production.
Make sure you're eating healthy.
Maintaining a balanced diet goes a long way on the journey to achieving thicker eyebrows. Eating foods that are rich in biotin, omega 3's, and vitamins A, B, C, D, and E can speed up the eyebrow growth process more than you know.
"Minoxidil or Rogaine can help with brow growth," Washington, D.C.–based dermatologist Sarika Snell says. "It promotes the anagen growth phase of the hair follicle.
Countless brow experts recommend Rogaine -- the five percent Minoxidil version, applied with a Q-tip -- to help regrow brows. Unlike Latisse, you have to use it twice a day, and it might be six months before you see results.
Bimatoprost (Latisse) treats TE and possibly other forms of eyebrow loss by extending hair growth cycles so hairs have time to grow longer. It may help eyelash growth, but studies suggest it is also effective for eyebrows , though not yet approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for that purpose.
Olive oil is also good for your eyebrows, as it contains Vitamins A and E which helps your eyebrow hair grow faster and thicker and help keep it dark-hued. To Use: Massage your eyebrows with warm olive oil for 5 minutes before going to bed. Leave it on overnight, then rinse it off with warm water the next morning.
Coconut oil is a generally safe and inexpensive remedy that may help you grow fuller brows.
Castor oil: Castor oil has an essential composition of a chemical, which is useful for hair growth. Gently apply and massage castor oil on each eyebrow for two or three minutes. Leave this on for 30 minutes. Then wash your eyebrows with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser.
For eyebrows, the oil is best applied at night before bed so it can really soak in. Make sure your brows are clean and then apply a small amount with a cotton bud or clean mascara wand (we supply these with our castor oil). Gently massage the oil into the eyebrows. Wash off in the morning.
Eyebrow extensions are strands of mink or synthetic hair that are glued directly onto your brow hairs and to the skin around the eyebrows. This is done using surgical adhesive. Many beauty enthusiasts are now writing about the procedure as more people choose to enhance their eyebrows using this procedure.
