Strenuous activities: Sweating can irritate treated skin, so we ask that you avoid activities or exercise that cause excessive sweating for at least 48 hours post-treatment. Harsh skincare products: Avoid using exfoliants, retinoids, or products containing alcohol for at least one week post-treatment.
FOR AT LEAST THREE DAYS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT…
Avoid topical irritants— these potentially include harsh soaps, medicated washes, scrubs, oils, retinols, scented lotions and peels. Avoid hot baths / showers, as well as swimming (in any temperature).
Skip harsh skincare products, such as retinol, AHA/BHA exfoliants, or scented lotions, as these can irritate your skin post-treatment. 5. Avoid Strenuous Activities and HeatAvoid strenuous activities, hot showers, saunas, and Jacuzzis for 24 hours after treatment to minimize irritation and redness.
Avoid applying harsh or abrasive skincare products to the treated area immediately after laser treatment. Exfoliants, retinoids, and alcohol-based products should be avoided because they can irritate the skin and slow down the healing process.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant but can be too intense for sensitive, post-laser skin, leading to stinging or irritation. Before incorporating it into your routine, wait until your skin has had time to recover fully.
Avoid active ingredients on the treated area for 48 hours after treatment or until skin is back to normal. Use gentle products post treatment and avoid deodorant if you are sensitive to it.
FOR THE NEXT WEEK
Avoid the following active ingredients in treated areas: topical retinoids (e.g. Retin-A, tretinoin, adapalene), vitamin C, glycolic acid, salicylic acid. Scaling/hair shedding occurs during this time. Let the hair fall out naturally. Do not rub, exfoliate, or pick any treated areas.
If you experience (rarely) itching in the treated area, avoid scratching the skin. You can take an antihistamine e.g. Piriton to alleviate the irritation. We advise not using any skincare that contains AHA, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid or Retinoic Acid (e.g. Retin A) for 3-5 days following treatment.
Immediately after your laser hair removal session, the application of a soothing moisturizer can provide relief and enhance the skin's natural barrier. Look for moisturizers that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin, which are known for their hydrating properties.
This is a sign that the laser successfully treated the follicle, and it's clearing out the dead hair shaft. This shedding process, also called “peppering,” can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. In some cases, it may feel like the hair is growing back because it's breaking through the skin.
Avoid make-up on the treated area for at least 48 hours. Avoid the application of perfumed products or bleaching creams for 48 hours. Avoid scratching the treatment area if blistering or crusting occurs, as this can cause scarring. Avoid waxing, tweezing and threading for the complete duration of the treatment course.
The best way to help speed up shedding after your laser hair removal treatment is by gentle exfoliation once or twice a week once you start to see signs of your hair starting to shed.
It also happens when treated hairs are shedding and if you don't exfoliate regularly enough these hairs will tend to get trapped in the skin. If you are prone to ingrown hairs you will normally see bumps appear about a week after a laser hair removal session these are nothing to worry about.
While laser hair removal significantly reduces hair growth, it doesn't always eliminate it completely, and some may still require occasional touch-ups. Skin reactions can also play a role in feelings of regret, although this is rare when the procedure is done correctly.
Whether you've had a tattoo laser removal or laser hair removal, it is recommended you avoid strong soaps on the treatment area, that includes medicated skin washes, skin scrubs or harsh exfoliants, as well as hydrogen peroxide. Follow the aftercare advice given by your medical or cosmetic clinic provider.
Active serums and creams can be used after 48 hours of the treatment plan and not before that! Try applying mild exfoliant like BHA or AHA lotion from the 3rd day after your treatment has been done. Avoid any form of physical exercise and go to the gym for a minimum of 12 hours after the laser hair removal procedure.
Use Gentle Cleansers: Wash your face with mild, non-abrasive cleansers that won't strip your skin or cause irritation. Avoid products with harsh chemicals or fragrances during the healing phase. Avoid Picking or Scrubbing: It's crucial to let your skin heal naturally.
Do not use any topical products that cause photosensitivity (e.g. hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, retinols, and benzoyl peroxide) in the treatment areas for three days after treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and lotion on treated areas.
One study found that after Fraxel laser, applying a topical vitamin C serum has been shown to reduce the injury of the skin's surface barrier and even help restore pH.
Wait at least 3-4 days after laser removal before applying retinol. This gives skin time to heal completely with no lingering redness or sensitivity. Resume retinol use slowly, just 2-3 nights per week at first. Always apply moisturizer to prevent dryness and peeling.
Searching for over-the-counter products meant for dry, sensitive skin will be a good place to start finding the right moisturizer for you. Drugstore brands such as CeraVe, Cetaphil, Eucerin, and Neutrogena make gentle, hydrating moisturizers that can be used after laser treatments.
There are some skincare products that you'll want to avoid using on your skin after laser hair removal. These include exfoliants (like glycolic acid or salicylic acid), alcohol-based toners, harsh astringents, and scrubs. These products can further irritate your skin and delay the healing process.
