Perhaps the clearest statements in the Bible on a Christian woman's personal grooming are in 1 Peter 3:3-4 and 1 Timothy 2:9-10. Both references counsel women to concentrate upon the "grooming" of their inner character in a way that is pleasing to God, in contrast to placing undue emphasis on their outward appearance.
Biblical Perspective on Personal Grooming
In the book of Leviticus, the Israelites were given specific instructions regarding personal grooming, including the command not to round off the hair on the temples or mar the edges of the beard (Leviticus 19:27).
The Bible's main teaching about physical cleanliness appears in Leviticus 11-15. Some of the rules may seem strange and harsh to us.
Christianity does not have any prohibitions on shaving. Even though it may seem weird, women can shave without fear.
Verse 10: Here is the central guiding principle that should govern our choice of clothes. We should dress as those who profess godliness, and if attention is to be drawn to ourselves, let our good works, not our clothing, be that which draws the attention.
According to modern biblical scholars (and Josephus), the rules against these mixtures are survivals of the clothing of the ancient Jewish temple and that these mixtures were considered to be holy and/or were forfeited to a sanctuary.
19:26). Ultimately scripture neither presents the idea that tattoos somehow harm the temple of God (our body) or dishonor God. In fact, God uses the idea of a tattoo favorably when he speaks of his remembrance of his people. However, while tattoos are permissible it is not always wise to get one.
[14] Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? [15] But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
The Prophet (PBUH) said, "There are five acts which conform to the pure nature: Circumcision, removing of the pubic hair, clipping the nails, plucking the underarm hair and trimming the moustache." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Thus, “every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head” (1 Cor. 11:4) means that every man who covers his physical head dishonors his spiritual head, that is, Christ (1 Cor. 11:3).
According to the Bible, a woman who is menstruating or who has pathological vaginal bleeding is unclean. Anybody who touches such a woman's bed or her personal things is also regarded as unclean and should therefore, wash carefully.
SUMMARY. The LORD gives laws to the people through Moses and Aaron about which animals are “clean” (that is, lawful for eating) and which are “unclean. Unclean things were numerous and included leprosy, menstruating women, dead bodies, shell fish, and pigs. More” (not to be eaten).
Leviticus 14:8-9
He who is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean.
Is wearing makeup a sin? God does not expressly prohibit the use of makeup. He's more concerned with matters of the heart, and in that vein, makeup can be used to encourage sin. But it's not an automatic contraband.
Read Matthew 23:25-28
Jesus criticised the Pharisees for being clean outside but unclean inside. He told them to be clean from the inside out. Would Jesus say anything different to us today?
In 1 Corinthians 11:3-15, Paul writes that if a woman is to be so immodest as to wear her hair uncovered while praying or prophesying in a Christian assembly she might as well shave her head. Paul instructs the Corinthians that it is “one and the same” for a woman to have her head shaved and for her to unveil her hair.
To reduce the likelihood of razor burn or irritation we've seen 4mm as the recommended length to trim pubic hair with a bikini trimmer. If you want smooth skin we recommend waxing or sugaring. Exfoliate your bikini line and apply a soothing pubic oil to prevent itch during regrowth.
Shaving the beard is muthla (mutilation). Verily the Prophet ﷺ has prohibited muthla. The great Imam of Madinah, Imam Mâlik is reported to have said: The sin of shaving the beard is not only a kabîra (major sin), but it is also bagi (open offence).
ESV For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.
So what is going on in 1 Timothy 2:9? Let's start with the KJV. “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.” (“Broided” is apparently an old spelling of “braided.”) Notice the punctuation.
As the biblical passage progresses, Paul teaches that: God's order for the woman is the opposite from His order for the man. When she prays or prophesies she must cover her head. If she does not, she disgraces her head (man).
The Church still officially prefers the traditional interment of the deceased. Despite this preference, cremation is now permitted as long as it is not done to express a refusal to believe in the resurrection of the body.
They held that both the Bible and Christian tradition taught that alcohol is a gift from God that makes life more joyous, but that over-indulgence leading to drunkenness is sinful.
Crosses are often worn as an indication of commitment to the Christian faith, and are sometimes received as gifts for rites such as baptism and confirmation. Communicants of the Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox churches are expected to wear their baptismal cross necklaces at all times.
