Powder brows is a cosmetic semi permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows with soft powder effect, very similar to powder makeup. Powder effect is done with a shading technique using a permanent makeup device, which is similar to a tattoo gun.
When you get powdered brows, you should return for a touch-up procedure two months after the original procedure. After that, the brows should last between one and three years.
The most obvious difference is how results from the technique will look. Microblading uses pigment to create hyper-realistic hair-like strokes. Powder Effect uses pin-dot pigment application to recreate the flawless, freshly applied makeup you wear every day.
The average price of powder brow treatment is $500. However, it can be much higher, and, of course, you can find it for much less money.
There's no actual pain, or at least there shouldn't be, but you'll still feel certain sensations when the needle pierces the skin. According to various clients, powder brows feel like: Tweezing your brows very quickly. Pinching.
Yes, if you want your powder brows removed immediately after the procedure it can be done but only in the first 48 hours after the powder brows treatment. It is done differently than the tattoo – there is no need for needles since the wound is still fresh. Saline solution is applied to extract the pigments.

Powder Brows – Powder Brows are a form of permanent makeup (cosmetic tattoo), where pigment is implanted under the surface of the skin with a tattoo machine.
Powder Brows, results in the MOST realistic and Natural looking outcome.
Make sure you clean your powder brows regularly. Use cotton pads and sterile water and dry the area afterward. Don't touch or peel off the scabs. Don't wash your brows extensively.
LESS PAIN & BLEEDING: Ombré powder brows are less painful due to the airbrush-like technique we apply, which creates less trauma to the skin vs. the blading technique of microblading. The latter also creates cuts into the skin, thus more bleeding is involved.
Powered/Machine Brows
The ideal candidates for powdered brows are those who have hair, but fill in with makeup. If you have thinner brows, we can add in hair strokes after for additional texture. Powdered brows traditionally last for 2-4 years while microblading usually lasts 2-3 years.
Although powder brows are semi-permanent, so they're supposed to fade out eventually, in some cases, the pigments never completely disappear. This can happen if the pigments were inserted too deep into the skin, from where the body can't extract them, as the inner layers are never shedded like the surface layer is.
What happens during the service? The first few days following your procedure the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has peeled and healed. Around week 2, the skin naturally exfoliates and sheds. During weeks 4-8 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible.
Powder brows also age and fade well—a concern lots of would-be microblade clients have. “It's diffused powder, so when it fades it just gets lighter, and lighter, and lighter,” Tran says. “It looks good longer, so it doesn't require a touch up quite as soon as you would for microblading.”
Although the procedure can take upward of 2 hours, most people report only feeling minor pressure or discomfort and less pain than a typical tattoo due to the use of a numbing cream. Of course, this will depend on your own personal tolerance to pain. Some level of pain or discomfort should be expected.
Each appointment takes 1.5 to 2 hours. How long does Microfeathering® last? The effects of Microfeathering® can last anywhere between 8-12 months. Longevity of the Microfeathering® strokes is dependent upon skin type and lifestyle.
You will probably be advised not to get your freshly done powder brows wet for a few days after the treatment. That means that they shouldn't be exposed to water because it can damage your brow tattoo. However, your powder brows tattoo needs to be cleaned.
Your brows will look warmer (more red/orange) than they will heal as you're seeing the ink in open, irritated skin, not healed skin. During the following few days, any tenderness will start to ease. Days 2 - 5: Your brows will start to look darker as the thin protective film develops (not a scab).
Streicher says that if you see brow hairs sticking straight out or growing in the wrong direction, it could be a result of tweezing or waxing. Healy says to prepare yourself for noticing a new variety of hair lengths, since the brow hairs you never allowed to reach their full maturation are now getting there.
Powder brows is great for people who already have full brows but just want a little extra definition without the hassle of filling in the brows every day. It's also the preferred technique for people with oily skin, as it typically lasts much longer than microblading.
Microblading over your solid brow tattoo will not give you the results you wish. You will end up with blotchy, discolored brows, even worse than what you had before. However, you wouldn't know this by looking at before and after photos of “corrections”.
The most common scenario, and the ideal one. Ombre powder brows after 2 years keep the original shape, and the color hasn't turned, but has lost intensity and it's very light. This is how the long-term effects are supposed to go. It means your artist has done everything right, and your skin has taken the pigments well.
Here's what is happening: Immediately after the treatment your brow area is slightly irritated and this contributes to the appearance of a darker pigment color. When the irritation subsides after two or three days, the color will already start to appear softer.
Healing and Aftercare
For both the powdered ombré and combination brows, healing takes 2-3 weeks. For the first 3 days your brows will be very dark, and then they will start to scab. Unlike microblading that scabs in patches, powder brows scab in one big (or a few big) pieces.
