Overall, I don't think Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm is worth its high price point. It's difficult to use, and it isn't effective at all, at least not for me. You (and your wallet) will be better off skipping this one!
Extreme weather conditions such as winter and summer can make your lips vulnerable resulting in dryness, cracked and chapped lips. One of the simplest ways to prevent this is by applying lip balm all year round to keep them nourished and hydrated.
While lip balms primarily have moisturising properties, lip butters hydrate, maintain the natural moisture balance of your lips and lock it in! Lip butters typically have a creamier texture as opposed to lip balms because of the luscious ingredients and a much higher oil content.
"A lip balm contains waxes that prevent moisture from evaporating from the top layer of the lip; an oil simply hydrates the lip but doesn't prevent the loss of moisture; and a lip mask usually just replenishes the lip with hydration, but doesn't seal in any moisture." A-ha.
Lip masks prevent drying out and chapping of lips, especially during the winter. They also help make your lips look plumper, especially right after using the mask, and in a more natural way than lip liner. They can help reduce signs of aging that come from the skin on your lips getting thinner.
You can't be physically addicted to ChapStick. Even if you feel like you're missing a limb when you don't have any with you, it's more likely that it's a habit rather than a true addiction. There are plenty of ways to keep your lips moisturized and get rid of chapped lips without reaching for a lip balm.
You should try to use lip balm in moderation. In fact, some dermatologists believe that overuse could cause your lips to stop producing natural oils. They also caution that you could feel dependent on the balm for moisture. Despite these warnings, it's still safe for you to use lip balm every day.
No matter how good your lip balm is, if you're applying it too often it will end up doing more harm than good. This is because the lips become reliant on the product and lose the ability to moisturise themselves.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends using white petroleum jelly throughout the day and before bed to moisturize and sooth dry, cracked lips. Petroleum jelly seals in water longer than oils and waxes. It's also inexpensive and easy to find online and in drugstores.
What's the Difference Between Lipstick and Tinted Lip Balm? "The difference between a tinted lip balm and lipstick is that lipstick isn't necessarily hydrating, while a lip balm is supposed to be nourishing and hydrating," says Ceme.

The Value: Worth it
Yes, it's a little pricey for a lip balm (especially one that's less than an ounce), but it's tightly packed and the tub lasts a long time. With a few months of fairly regular use (think daily or every few days) I'm still at around the halfway point, and I use a lot.
"Lip masks can be very effective to heal the our delicate lips overnight." When even drinking water still doesn't help, it's smart to look for a good lip mask or hydrating lip treatment to stop the dryness and pain that comes from chapped lips, or cheilitis.
