Wherever possible, we apply the sustainability criteria; avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle to all of our packaging innovations. Today, nearly 100% of our packaging materials are recyclable. Refill pouches are just one way we reduce packaging.

Is NIVEA suitable for vegans?

Is NIVEA plant based?

Nivea is actually owned by the German based Beiersdorf. In researching whether or not Nivea products are vegan, I did find out that Beiersdorf does not test on animals, which is a good sign. However, many of the products still contain animal ingredients. It is best to check the ingredients on the package yourself.

Does NIVEA use Microplastic?

We are making very good progress with these formula changes: With NIVEA, we were able to achieve this goal by the end of 2021. Since then, NIVEA products are completely free of solid microplastics.

Can NIVEA tins be recycled?

Recycling. Our packaging is 100% recyclable.

Are NIVEA products recyclable?

For example, our NIVEA Fresh Blends Shower Cream bottles offer up a biodegradable, vegan formula and are made of 97% recycled plastic. And as part of Beiersdorf's 2025 target, we are aiming for 100% recyclable, refillable or reusable packaging by that date.

We believe animal testing is not required to prove the safety and effectiveness of our products.

Does Nivea have pork in it?

No, the NIVEA MEN DEEP Active Clean Body Wash does not contain pork ingredients.

Is NIVEA cruelty-free in 2021?

Nivea is NOT Cruelty-free.

Nivea pays and allows their products to be tested on animals when required by law. Nivea also sells its products in stores in mainland China where animal testing is mandatory for most imported cosmetics.

Is NIVEA paraben free?

NIVEA uses parabens in around 30 per cent of its products, primarily in body care, sun protection and face care products. Like all ingredients used by NIVEA, parabens are added only where necessary.

Does NIVEA contain animal fat?

The majority of Nivea products are vegetarian, however they do use glycerin – which we believe is all plant-based but double check. We haven't found and uses of cholestrol or other animal-fat based products, but please do double check.

Products in the NIVEA Pure and Natural range primarily use ingredients found in nature. We prepare them gently, so that they can achieve their optimal effect. The NIVEA Pure and Natural range is also free of parabens, silicones, colouring agents and mineral oil.

NIVEA uses approximately 30 different silicones, and about 20 percent of our products globally – mainly leave-on products, like face creams and lotions or deodorants, contain silicones.

Is Burt's Bees cruelty-free?

Yes, Burt's Bees is Cruelty-free! None of Burt's Bees ingredients, formulations, or finished products are tested on animals, anywhere in the world. Burt's Bees is also certified cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny.

Does Colgate test on animals?

Is E45 cruelty-free?

Unfortunately, E45 is not cruelty-free. As a Reckitt Benckiser brand, their animal testing policy allows animal testing where there's legislative requirements.

Is Vaseline vegan friendly?

Is Vaseline Vegan? Technically Vaseline is vegan. It uses no animal derived ingredients in any of its products.

Is Dove cruelty-free?

We are excited to announce that Dove has been certified as cruelty-free by PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies Program. And now our products are entitled to carry PETA's cruelty-free logo from PETA, something we are phasing in across all our packs progressively from next year.
