If the humidity is very high during your lash appointment, the adhesive may set too quickly. If the adhesive sets before the extension attaches to the natural lash then there will be poor adhesion and the lash will eventually just pop off after a day or two.
Extensions are attached to lashes that are at the middle of last stage in their cycle and there is no way to know the exact time that the a lash will shed naturally, so it is not uncommon for a freshly extended lash to shed the day of the application.
Before a natural lash even falls out at maturity a new lash has already started its growing phase in its place. This process is nonstop, with people shedding anywhere from 1 to 5 natural eyelashes each day. This means that you could lose 1 to 5 eyelash extensions per day.
Eyelash extensions can fall out before that though due to a large range of reasons, including: Natural lash shedding- Our eyelashes naturally shed. As eyelash extensions are attached to your natural eyelashes, it is normal for the extensions to fall out as the natural lashes replace themselves.
"Extensions will shed with your natural hair growth cycle, which is typically every six to eight weeks," says Richardson. "Refills are a great way to extend the life of your lashes and are recommended every two to three weeks."
Lashes per eye (lash count)
You'll know exactly what they're getting and what to expect. 50 lashes per eye can be considered a full set for some and only be a partial set for others. A skilled eyelash technician should be able look at your natural lashes and then determine what a full set is FOR YOU.
In short, if the adhesive is setting too quickly, it will set before a proper bond can form with the clients natural lash, which means poor retention. The other less likely reason (but still worth talking to your client about) is aftercare. If there is poor or no aftercare, the lashes bonds can be broken.
Clean your lash extensions every day - or twice a day if you're an eye makeup wearer or have oily skin or eyelids. I recommend cleaning lash extensions at night to remove the day's facial oils, dust, dirt and makeup.
If you accidentally exposed the lashes to water before you were supposed to – the glue is overloaded with moisture and dries immediately. This means that the lash extension hasn't properly formed a bond with your natural lash and causes it to fall off.
If you're not a back sleeper, we know it may be tough for you. If sleeping on your side is how you're most comfy, then that's A-ok, too! Just know that if you are a side sleeper, it is not uncommon if you notice a couple lashes on your pillow from time to time.
You may have developed Blepharitis! Blepharitis commonly occurs when the tiny oil glands of the inner eyelid become inflamed, Symptoms include red, itchy eyelids that may look greasy and crusted. If you do end up seeing a doctor he/she will probably tell you that you have an infection..
Prevent Infections!
Once applied, lash extensions perform that same task. Only here's the difference, if you're not washing your lash extensions what happens to the bacteria your eyes pick up every day? That's right. Bacteria will start to build upon your extensions!
Your lash extensions only last a week!
This often happens when not enough lash extensions have been applied. If you think you've found the cheapest technician around then the chances are they aren't spending enough time during the appointment to provide a long lasting, full lash effect.
One of the main advantages of lash extensions is that they look as close as possible to your natural lashes, making them more flattering even if you are not wearing any makeup. To get this advantage, it is essential to always apply one extension lash to a natural lash at a time.
To maintain a full, soft and lush look, we recommend only 1 set of refills (or in rare cases an absolute maximum of two) in between each full set. Think of it like this- if you applied hairspray to your hair too many times in between washes, your hair would be stiff and clumpy.
Do not brush the eyelash extensions when they are wet. Water adds extra weight to hair, when brushing lashes wet you might accidentally pull them. Never attempt to remove eyelash extensions or add more hairs by yourself, you are likely to damage your natural lashes hairs or glue them together.
Watery eyes.
If you notice that your client's eyes are getting watery, quickly address this matter. This is one of the most common reasons why eyelash extension glue turns white on the outer corners of the eyes. The tears can come into contact with the adhesive on the eyelashes and cause shock polymerization.
So, how much do you tip for eyelash extensions? On average, clients tip 20.27% for their eyelash extensions services. The vast majority of clients leave a tip between 15% and 25%. Tipping should remain at the complete discretion of the client to show appreciation for the service received.
NO TALKING DURING YOUR EYELASH EXTENSION APPOINTMENT
As your lash artist, we wanted to catch up with you and have some chit-chat. However, talking to clients will destroy your lash artist, and it will lessen the time to work on your lashes. Make this time to relax while your artist performs her job.
Keep your Eyelash Extensions dry for 4-6 hours after your appointment. You may wash your face in the sink using a washcloth, avoiding the eye area. Keep all oil based products away from the eyes and remember that everything on your face will travel to the eye area.
Sweat is mostly water, salt, and oils. While sweating is good for the body, it will definitely cause your extensions to fall out if the sweat comes in contact with them during the curing period.
What happens if glue gets in your eyes? During the lash application process your eyes will be closed the entire time. Because of this the likelihood of getting glue into your eyes is slim to none.
