Brushing it regularly from this stage on will help you grow a neat, tidy beard that can be more easily styled into shape. You can brush your hair daily, but always brush you beard when it's dry to avoid breakages. Wet hair is slightly more prone to tearing and snapping if pulled.
BUT WAIT - Before you grab your brush, make sure your beard is nice and dry or, at the very least, slightly damp. When hair is wet it is weaker and softer, so running a brush through it can cause strands to snap, break, or even get pulled out - Yikes.

Rule #5: Clean Your Trimmings

2. Apply Your Beard Balm or Oil. Applying the beard balm or oil before brushing is crucial, as the act of brushing your beard is what will distribute the nourishing oils throughout your facial hair. Start conservatively, two or three drops should do it, before spreading the oil through your beard with your hands.
Boar bristle brushes may not be the best choice for detangling coily or very thick hair types. The bristles may struggle to penetrate dense hair textures and/or disrupt your natural curl pattern, leading to frizz. However, they work well for precision styling and taming of flyaways - even on thicker curls.

The best way to trim your beard is to start with the longest hair length and bring it down gradually. Set your beard trimmer to its longest setting and trim your beard all over. Go against the direction of hair growth to remove excess bulk. Repeat using shorter trim settings until you're happy with the length.
Then, once you feel like you've covered the whole brush, rinse it off in warm water again to remove the dirt and debris. At no point should you be soaking the brush; you don't want your wood absorbing all that water.
