Women ranked heavily stubbled faces as the most attractive. Participants said that the clean-shaven men looked about as healthy and attractive as those with a full beard, but rated the bearded men higher for perceived parenting skills.
“It may be because it gives the face more definition in the jawline and enhances perceptions of age and masculinity,” study author Barnaby Dixson, a University of the Sunshine Coast human behavioral ecologist, told HuffPost.
The findings reveal that a light stubble beard enhances perceived attractiveness, leading to an increase in trust, albeit not uniformly across all participants.
