If you have chapped lips or dry skin around lips, use Aquaphor Healing Ointment® as your dry lips treatment to relieve dryness and soothe dry cracked lips. It also adds a little extra shine. You can use regular Aquaphor Healing Ointment on your lips (and everywhere else on your body).
Both Aquaphor and Vaseline work for lips
Both Aquaphor and Vaseline can be used on lips. Aquaphor can restore moisture to lips that are already dry. Vaseline is best used to prevent dry or chapped lips.
Unless you go with a specialized Vaseline containing other ingredients such as aloe vera or even cocoa butter, Vaseline won't do much good. On the other hand, Aquaphor is formulated with a myriad of ingredients that will restore your lips using all of its mineral oils and other healing properties.
Their ingredients are very different (see below). The lip repair has a lot more stuff in it, including shea butter, beeswax, vitamin E, etc. And unlike the regular Aquaphor, the lip repair base is not petrolateum jelly/mineral oil. Even though regular Aquaphor works as a lip balm I like the lip repair better.
Aquaphor® Lip Repair provides oils and moisture that soothe chapped lips, as well as nourishing vitamins and soothing shea butter to help soften lips.
Dry, dehydrated lips will look the opposite of plump—thin, weathered, and wrinkled, like a deflated raisin. At night, apply a thick layer of a super-restorative healing ointment like Aquaphor, which will go to work on dry, chapped lips while you sleep.
Aquaphor Lip Repair immediately relieves dryness and soothes very chapped, cracked lips. Specifically formulated for sensitive lips and very dry chapped lips, this moisturizing lip balm seals in moisture and provides effective, long-lasting relief, so lips look and feel healthier.
There's no good evidence that lip balm is chemically addictive — in that it causes withdrawal symptoms if you stop. And there's no evidence that it dries out your lips, forcing you to use more over time.
Aquaphor can moisturize dry skin on your face, including on your lips and eyelids. If you apply it while your skin is still damp from washing, you can maximize its moisturizing effects. Applying a small amount of Aquaphor to dry skin can minimize discomfort and irritation.
Benefits Of Aquaphor For Skin
It can also shield broken, irritated, or injured skin by forming a slightly breathable barrier over it,” says Dr. Konstantin Vasyukevich. Anecdotal evidence suggests that Aquaphor may relieve diaper rash in just 6 to 7 hours.
Vaseline is still safe for use because it contains nothing other than petroleum jelly. Vaseline is better than Aquaphor for burns, as lanolin may cause further irritation.
Many people have used slugging to obtain plump skin at home, because it only requires one product. All you need is a thick, ointment-based moisturizer like Vaseline, Aquaphor, CeraVe Healing Ointment or Cetaphil Healing Ointment.
How long should you use it? You'll repeat the process of washing, drying, and applying Aquaphor two to three times a day for several days after getting inked.
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: unusual changes in the skin (such as turning white/soft/soggy from too much wetness), signs of skin infection. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.
The Best Products for Slugging:
We've already mentioned it above, but one of the best options for slugging is Aquaphor, which is especially good if you want something that's a tad lighter than Vaseline.
Lip balms provide only temporary comfort, and some types can make scaly lips even drier. That's because, in part, when the thin film of moisture from the lip balm evaporates, it dehydrates your lips even more. "It starts a vicious cycle," Dr.
Cross that worry off your list. Lip balm has no ingredients that can cause dependency. And ingredients in these products can't short-circuit your skin's ability to make natural moisture. Yet dermatologists still get questions about lip balm addiction and lips that stay dry despite regular balm use.
There's 2 products I like from Aquaphor, the healing ointment which is a more general use ointment that can be applied to the lips but it's a little bit thinner of a coat than the Aquaphor lip balm. Both will do an amazing job for your lips.
“They act as a barrier from outside irritants (food, drinks, talking) and may keep out bacteria, which can cause a secondary infection in the viral sore. Try Vaseline, Aquaphor, Chapstick (don't double-dip or keep the stick/jar for cold sores only!).
Petroleum jelly / Petrolatum
It is important to note that even though Aquaphor contains petrolatum, Aquaphor's Lip Repair Ointment does not. CeraVe Healing Ointment and CeraVe Healing Lip Balm also contain petrolatum. Petroleum jelly is considered non-comedogenic.
Avoid all over the counter creams or ointments, except Aquaphor or A&D Ointment, either of which can be applied for dryness or irritation as needed. If you feel you need a lubricant during intercourse, these products can sometimes be a significant source of irritation.
Beeswax protects lips and retains lip moisture
Beeswax has lubricating, softening activities and reduces trans-epidermal water loss from skin1. This means it helps protect lips from becoming dry or chapped. Beeswax is also an occlusive, meaning it forms a moisturizing, protective layer on the surface of the lips3.
