"Sweat can not only cause staining, but it can wreck your tan during the development stage. If you are scared of sweating, use baby powder to keep the skin dry and the tan in place. Once the tan has developed, and the first shower has happened, the self-tanner will not transfer at all."
Apply talcum powder
The powder will absorb sweat and prevent any tan from transferring onto your clothes.
Use baby powder
Unfortunately, it's not a fake tans best friend, as this causes the colour to transfer onto other fabrics. To combat this, using a large makeup brush, apply a light dusting of baby powder onto areas that are beginning to feel sweaty, such as under the arms or underneath a bra.
How to stop fake tan transferring onto sheets? Baby powder is one tried-and-tested solution, as is a sheet protector. It's also advisable that you use a minimal amount of product so it fully absorbs into your skin. Alternatively, you can try gradual tanning products!
This can be reduced by making sure you are exfoliating well before applying the tan, and moisturizing with a non-oily lotion the next morning. You can also apply a very light layer of clear deodorant or even a primer over spots that might rub on your dress, like say your inner arms.
Wedding Spray Tan Aftercare
Here are some key tips for aftercare: Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing. To avoid smudging or rubbing off your fresh spray tan, opt for loose-fitting clothing to wear after your appointment. Tight or restrictive clothing can create friction, rub off the solution and leave an unwanted finish.
After applying your self-tanner, you'll need to give the product time to dry and settle on your skin. Do not get dressed right away, wrap yourself in a towel, or lie down. Wait about 10 to 15 minutes before putting clothes on—and even then, wear loose-fitting attire.
ZERO TRANSFER: The advanced clear tanning gel formula means it won't transfer onto your clothes or stain your sheets. It's a clear self express tan that goes on clear - no rinse required.
When your skin becomes too dry, the skin cells on the surface begin to flake off, taking your golden colour that sits within them away! This is where you may see your tan fade or become patchy over time. It's really important to keep hydrating the skin daily with a rich moisturiser.
Throw on a pair of loose pajama bottoms and a t-shirt. Set a towel over your pillow. Hop in to bed.
If you fake tan before bed and shower in the morning, you probably wake to orange-tinged sheets, unless you sleep on a large, dark coloured towel. Applying the tan earlier in the day will give the tan time to absorb and prevent it discolouring your linen.
Wear dark loose clothing; tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear loose fitting shoes. Shower lightly in cold – lukewarm water for 45 seconds ONLY after your desired development time. Use plain water, don't use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment.
The quickest steps are the basic (olive, coconut or baby) oil, soak in the tub, then use an exfoliating body mitt and body scrub or the specialist products designed to remove fake tan efficiently.
Maintaining Your Fake Tan
Moisturising well and using a bronzer is a good start: Moisturise using a non-oil-based moisturiser every day to keep your skin hydrated and therefore avoiding any cracking or flaking. Carefully pat your skin dry after baths/shower/swimming rather than rubbing.

For years, many experts have used the baby powder hack to prevent self tan transfer. Lightly dusting your tan with a large makeup brush will help prevent sweat and other moisture from building up and lifting the tanning product off your skin. It will also help remove any sticky feeling left from applying the product.
Limit long, hot showers or excessive washing, which can speed up fading. Instead, stick to quick, lukewarm showers and use gentle, sulfate-free body washes. To maintain hydration (and your tan), apply an oil-free, non-exfoliating moisturiser daily.
Mix up a water and laundry detergent solution; in a pinch, even dishwashing liquid mixed with water can work. Use your fingertip to work the solution into the stain, then rinse, repeat, and continue sponging with the solution until the stain is gone.
TIP #1: POWDER PROBLEM AREAS
Our top tip for keeping your tan intact during your workout is to apply talcum or baby powder to areas that are typically exposed to friction and sweat during your time at the gym. Good spots to hit with powder include the crevices of your elbows and knees, your underarms, and your chest.
It is important not to wear tight clothing after applying fake tan as this can cause your tan to rub off or cause marks. This can make self-tanning in the morning more difficult as you must wear dark, loose clothing to avoid any transfer and you can't use deodorant or perfume.
We generally recommend sticking to one self tanning product per application. If you do not find the color to be as deep as you would like, you can always apply a second coat 30-60 minutes after initial application, or the following day.
