The Botox lip flip involves injecting 4-6 units of Botox above the upper lip at the center (near the cupid's bow) and near the corners of the mouth.
On average, your healthcare provider will insert about two to four units of Botox into your upper lip and two units into your lower lip.
It is important to keep in mind that the Botox lip flip only lasts three to four months, and you'll need to return for treatment about two to three times as often as you would for filler injections.

Normal lip flip side effects

In order to get the most attractive results, there are a few things you should avoid after lip injections. First, stay out of extreme temperatures for at least 48 hours following your appointment. Avoid going into a hot tub or sauna and abstain from smoking.

If you already have a decent amount of volume in your lips but would like to alter the shape, a lip flip might be the better choice. If you want added volume and longer-lasting results, then lip fillers may be what you're looking for.
Botox around the lips provides a very subtle change and is usually used in combination with fillers in the lips. Furthermore, 20 units is too high a dose in this area. When such a high dose is used complications include difficulty closing the mouth, eating, drinking, and an asymmetric smile.

Possible Side Effects for Botox Lip Flip

Done incorrectly or performed on unsuitable patients, a Botox lip flip can easily impact the integrity of the lip structure and affect how you talk, smile, etc.
Dr. Phillip Dauwe, a board-certified plastic surgeon, explains that patients should wait 3 – 4 days before putting any pressure on their lips – including kissing.
As with any surgical procedure, not everyone's smile is suitable for a lip flip – even those who may be good candidates for lip fillers. "The ideal patient is someone who has a hyperactive muscle around their mouth that causes their upper lip to turn in or pull up dramatically when they smile," Dr. Amalfi says.
The BOTOX lip flip doesn't actually increase volume in the lips, although it can make the upper lip look a bit fuller when it's performed by a skilled injector. Doesn't address the lower lip.
Botox lip flip is not a permanent cosmetic procedure. To maintain the results, you'll need to repeat the procedure roughly every 3 to 4 months, or as long as it takes for the effects of the Botox injections to wear off.
A Botox Lip Flip doesn't require any special preparation. The only condition is that you don't have active cold sores. Wait for the cold sores to pass before you have the procedure. We advise our patients to refrain from alcohol and aspirin a few days before the procedure to reduce the chance of swelling and bruising.
Avoid wearing lipstick or lip balm. Avoid sleeping face down. Avoid touching, pressing, or picking at your lips. Minimize kissing or sipping from a straw.
