Below are the care instructions copied directly from Saniderm's website: “After you apply the first Saniderm bandage, we recommend leaving it on your new tattoo for between 8 to 24 hours. Everyone heals differently, and the length of time will vary depending on how much fluid your tattoo is weeping.
You shouldnt keep saniderm on for 7 days. 3-4 days is the correct length of time. At this point if the tattoo isn't completely sealed in the saniderm then you should just remove it and care for it as usual. Keep it clean and your hair out of it if your hair is long.

The benefits are that it keep your natural moisture/lymph in which drastically speed healing and reduces scabbing. Plus if protects the area from friction and dirt/germs etc. you tattoo will never be as clean as it is when it's first finished, cleaned by the artist and Saniderm applied.
You can take a saniderm off at any time without pulling skin off or damaging your tattoo, if it did that, artists wouldn't use them. You can take it off now or wait until tomorrow, it's up to you.
If you find the tattoo weeps into the second piece, remove it at the next 24 hour period. Then wash the tattoo, apply aftercare if needed, and apply a third piece. This third piece can be worn for up to 5 days. Saniderm should not be worn for more than 7 days total.”
Keep in mind that the tattoo may appear to be fully healed on the surface once you remove the last Saniderm bandage after 5 days. However, deeper layers of the skin will still be fully healing for up to 6 months.
Most customers who have used Saniderm as directed, report their tattoo colors as even more vibrant and intact, as compared to other aftercare products. How long should I leave Saniderm on my tattoo? In general, leave Saniderm on your tattoo for at least 24 hours after application, but no longer than 7 days.
Make sure you use a glycerin-free ointment (i.e. no Aquaphor) under your Saniderm bandage. Saniderm warns that the use of a product with glycerin will react with the adhesive and could cause issues like rashes or the adhesive going hulk mode and binding too strongly.
If given one piece of Saniderm:
Your tattoo may look muddy or hazy underneath. Excessive fluid will affect the adhesion of Saniderm. After 3-4 days, remove Saniderm under warm running water, such as a shower.
air bubbles are fine, it's when the saniderm starts leaking that there could be problems.
The Dos. The first night is often the most difficult. It undoubtedly still aches and continues to flow a decent amount of blood, plasma, and more ink. The best course of action is to leave any healing coverings, such as second skin or saniderm, on for the first night (or the first few if it stays put).
Leaving the bandage on for too long can result in infection, so always change your bandage within the stated timeframe. Most tattoos can be properly healed with 2 applications of the bandage, with each application being left on the skin for 1-2 days, for a 3 or 4 day total.
When you use Saniderm to heal your tattoo, you will find the process much easier. While we don't recommend taking a bath or going swimming after applying your Saniderm, taking a shower isn't an issue. Saniderm is a medical-grade, waterproof bandage, that allows you to shower anytime.
Provided the wearer does not have an allergy to adhesives, second skin is arguably the greatest game-changer in the tattoo industry, making the healing process faster, safer and more efficient!
SANIDERM METHOD
After Saniderm is applied, leave it on for 3 - 5 days. You can work, exercise, and shower as you would normally, but do not submerge the Saniderm underwater. After you take off the bandage, wash with hypoallergenic soap and apply small amounts of unscented moisturizer.
During this time there will be a buildup of fluid (plasma, ink, blood) underneath the bandage. This is normal and should remain contained within the Saniderm. Though your tattoo may look blurry, remember that it's just the fluid. Your tattoo is fine.
By using the body's natural repairing fluids to keep the wounded area in a hydrated state, Saniderm accelerates cell recovery and therefore heals your tattoo faster. Saniderm bandages are made from high-quality materials and are composed of three primary components.
When the tattoo is dry to the touch, cover it completely with a new piece of plastic wrap, using small pieces of tape as needed to hold it in place. Do NOT use any healing ointment or moisturizer. With this method, the tattoo is kept completely covered with plastic wrap 24 hours a day, usually for 48-72 hours.
General Saniderm aftercare:
Tattoo will look fuzzy and full of liquid under bandage; this is normal as the tattoo will continue to weep and release ink and fluid for 12-24 hours after initial session. The degree of fluid will depend partially on how heavily the tattoo was shaded.
If your tattoo is bandaged with Saniderm (Second Skin), you should keep the bandage on for 3-4 days. During this time, it is normal to see some fluid build up beneath the bandage. (If the bandage begins to leak, you must remove the bandage and follow the standard aftercare instructions listed below).
There is no need to worry about Saniderm negatively affecting your ink at all. In fact, customers report that their tattoos retain more of the vibrant color of fresh ink after using Saniderm, compared to tattoos that have healed by other methods.
You can shower 3-4 hours after getting a tattoo, if you have a Saniderm bandage on, however, if you have a plastic wrap wait 24 hours to unwrap your tattoo and shower. In either case, shower in cold or lukewarm water and avoid prolonged soaking or submerging your tattoo in water for 3-4 weeks.
