If you're seeing yellow more than you' are seeing Orange, use a violet-based shampoo. Violet is light purple and purple neutralizes yellow. These types of shampoos have direct dyes in them that stain over the top of the hair. The more often you use them the more direct dye is overlaid on the hair shaft.
What it does: Purple shampoo neutralizes yellow and gold tones in blonde hair. How to use: Apply it to wet hair, lather, and let it sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. Use it once or twice a week as needed. What it does: A toner can help balance out unwanted warm tones in your hair.
Hard water can be a culprit for yellowing blonde hair. This is because hard water is high in minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which can build up on the hair and cause it to look yellow. If you live in an area with hard water, you may want to invest in a shower head filter to help reduce the mineral buildup.
In the salon, your stylist can apply a low-ammonia toner formula to your hair after it is lightened. For example, if the goal is a pearly blonde shade, your stylist will use a lightener first, then apply a violet toner to cancel out the yellow tones that are exposed when your hair color is lifted.
Matteo Vazquez, a color education coordinator and colorist for Mario Tricoci, recommends a richly formulated purple shampoo for blondes, which distributes purple pigment throughout the hair to neutralize brassy tones. "Violet is the opposite of yellow or gold," says Vazquez.
One option is to re-bleach the roots to lift them to a lighter level before toning again. You need to get them to that very pale yellow - think the inside of a banana. This will help to ensure that your favourite toner can effectively neutralize any remaining yellow tones and match the rest of your hair perfectly.
Use Purple Shampoo and Conditioner
If you are seeking an at-home solution, start with purple shampoo and conditioner. "Purple shampoo is great for neutralizing yellow or brassy tones by balancing them with cool pigments," shares Korab.
“Purple shampoo works best to eliminate yellow, which is the unwanted tone that tends to pop up over time on bright blondes,” says Zanoni. While blue shampoo can still benefit hair, she adds that it's best used on brunettes who wish to eliminate orange tones.
If you have light brown or golden blonde hair, there's no need to reach for the bleach: you can achieve an ice blonde hair colour without it. Simply choose a dye like Garnier Nutrisse Natural Light Ash Blonde, Shade 9.13 and you're ready to go!
Ash cancels the yellow. But make sure to only apply the ash product on the hair that you bleached that are yellow. The ends of your hair are usually much light and will absorb the ash color much quicker than the roots.
Yellow looks phenomenal on blondes in general because blonde women have the perfect skin tone for yellow, which is actually kind of obvious. Blonde is a similar color to yellow, so of course it looks good on them. The good news: few blondes have hair yellow enough to blend in with a yellow garment.

To punch up the contrast, try painting walls (or a small accent area) in a cooler hue to help balance the space, Wadden suggests. Sherwin-Williams' Charcoal Blue has gray undertones that can cool off yellow undertones in surfaces like oak floors.
Use a color-depositing shampoo to correct a brassy tone.
Miranda recommends leaving the shampoo on up to 15 minutes to darken the highlights even more. Purple shampoos work best with yellow brassy tones. Use a blue toning shampoo for orange brassy tones. Correct red brassy tones with a green color toning shampoo.
You want the hair cuticle to be open for toning. Towel-dry hair to about 65 - 75% dry then start toning. Usually color & bleach is on dry hair, even toners and colors that do not require developer; however toner that uses developer is recommended on towel dried hair.

PURPLE/VIOLET PRODUCTS

They claim that this method of lightening has enabled them to get the ashy or faded appearance they wanted, while also neutralizing unpleasant tones such as yellow and brassiness in white hair. Those who used baking soda reported improved texture and manageability in their hair along with a soothing sensation.
Fortunately, you may be able to get rid of the yellow in your hair naturally. If you have blond hair, try lightening it with lemon juice. If your hair is blond, grey, or white, use an apple cider vinegar rinse or a baking soda-hydrogen peroxide paste.
Purple toning shampoo: If your hair has yellow tones, you'll need a purple toner. It contains violet pigments that help neutralize the yellow undertone, giving your hair an even color. If you have lighter-colored hair, then purple toning shampoo is the one for you.
A toner is your best bet! If you're not ready for a new hair color just yet, then using an ash-based toner on bleached or lightened hair can tone down that brassy/too vibrant color easily and quickly.
