A moisturizer can also be helpful any time your skin feels dry, such as during the winter. When your skin becomes dry, your body makes more oil. The extra oil can clog your pores, which may lead to more breakouts. The right moisturizer can prevent your skin from becoming dry and irritated.
Pores can become clogged with excess oil, dead skin, or dirt, or they can appear more prominent as a result of too much sun exposure. Other factors that can influence pores becoming clogged include genetics and hormones.
5. Moisturizing your skin is a daily must for all skin types, including oily skin, but is especially true for dry, sensitive skin. To minimize pores, you need a moisturizer that hydrates your skin, restoring necessary moisture, but does not clog your pores.
Alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) and beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) do a great job of clearing up clogged pores. According to Libby, "AHA/BHAs like glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids will all help exfoliate and dissolve away dead skin cells and debris, minimizing the appearance of pores and preventing them from enlarging."

Steam opens up your pores and helps loosen any buildup of dirt for a deeper cleanse. Opening up your pores also softens blackheads, making them easier to remove.
Baking soda can help minimise this issue by closing your skin's pores and also shrinking them slightly in appearance. This ingredient has astringent-like properties that help close the pores and prevent them from clogging with dirt that gives rise to blackheads and acne.
Drinking a few pints of water a day along with thorough cleaning of your skin allows the water to cleanse your skin and unclog any pores that have dirt and dead skin cells clogging them (a cause of acne – more on this later) and retain moisture and skin health.
Though it may be hard to apply makeup over an area you have spot-treated with vitamin E, it may be best to avoid doing this treatment overnight. Vitamin E's consistency can clog pores, especially in areas that are prone to acne.
Coconut oil is highly comedogenic, which means it can clog pores. Consequently, it may actually make acne worse for some people (22). When applied to the skin, coconut oil may clog pores and make acne worse. It is not recommended for those with very oily skin.
Lemon oil is used for a variety of skin conditions , including acne. When diluted and applied topically, lemon essential oil can kill bacteria that may get trapped in pores and cause breakouts.
According to dermatologist Dr Jaishree Sharad, ice cannot affect the opening or closing of skin pores.
“Since cold water tightens your pores, bacteria and debris can get trapped and won't clear out as easily as using warm water,” explains Knapp. She recommends washing your face with lukewarm water first as a way to remove any makeup and pollutants from the day.

Laser Treatments
Several treatments are available at Dermatology and Laser Centre. Fractional ablative laser skin resurfacing decreases the appearance of pores and acne scars. For enlarged pores, Dr. Gallacher uses the Vbeam laser as well as fractionated CO2 lasers.
Hold the warm washcloth over your face to steam out your pores. The steam helps loosen dirt, make-up, and such in your pores. Repeat the process. As the washcloth cools, continue to heat up the washcloth with new hot water, and hold it over your face, up to three or four times.
As long as you have clean skin before sweating, then the act can actually help prevent acne. The reason for this is that sweat flushes out your pores, eliminating dirt and debris. It's recommended to shower or at least wash your face after you sweat profusely so that the debris and sweat don't sit on your skin.
