Duac gel is a prescription-only acne treatment applied directly to the skin. It uses a combination of an antibiotic and an antibacterial. It can treat mild to moderate acne outbreaks. It typically gets initial results within 2-4 weeks of daily use.
Use DUAC ONCE DAILY GEL once a day in the evening. It may take 2-5 weeks before you see the effect of DUAC ONCE DAILY GEL. Do not use for more than 12 weeks at one time. Your doctor will tell you how long your treatment will last.
It's suitable for persistent adult acne, whether hormonal or stress-induced. It works quickly. Customers have reported seeing great results within a few weeks. It's non-greasy and easy to apply.
Apply a thin layer of DUAC Gel to the face once daily, in the evening or as directed by the physician. The skin should be gently washed, rinsed with warm water, and patted dry before applying DUAC Gel. Avoid the eyes, mouth, lips, mucous membranes, or areas of broken skin.
While designed primarily to treat acne and kill acne-causing bacteria, some find that Duac Gel also helps to diminish the appearance of acne scars. However, acne scars can be hard to treat and will generally fade over time. To prevent acne scars it is important not to pop or pick spots.
Do not use this product excessively - this won't make it any more effective but will increase the chance of it irritating your skin. Duac gel should not be used for longer than 12 weeks at a time.
Wash your face with a mild cleanser (not soap) and pat the skin dry with a clean towel. DUAC is usually applied twice daily, in the morning and evening. Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes, mouth, or nose (or in the creases of your nose), or on your lips. If it does get into any of these areas, wash with water.
If you go with the cream option, dermatologists recommend patients use topical retinoids. Retinoids can help rid your skin of dead skin cells that end up clogging your pores. And over time, these creams will help your skin stay clear.
Duac Once Daily Gel should be stored in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C for up to 2 months. Do not freeze. Do not leave it in the car, especially the glovebox, or on windowsills. Do not store Duac Once Daily Gel or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink.
You can also use an oil-free moisturiser to alleviate dryness and discomfort. Using Duac gel can also leave your skin sensitive to sunlight and thus vulnerable to additional damage.
You may be able to stave off the worst of it. If you've already succumbed to benzoyl peroxide-induced dryness and flakiness, slather on moisturizer as often as necessary. Definitely use it immediately after cleansing, just before applying your benzoyl peroxide treatment, and right before bed.
Benzoyl peroxide is also an ingredient in Duac Once Daily (with clindamycin, an antibiotic) and Epiduo gel (with adapalene, a retinoid).
Treatment with Epiduo Gel resulted in a significant increase in dryness and evaporative water loss values compared with Duac Gel. Overall, subject self-assessments were equally favorable across all study groups, although the Epiduo Gel group reported a higher frequency of adverse perceptions (ie mild burning/stinging).
As we outlined above, the common side effects of lymecycline include feeling nausea, headaches, stomach pain, and diarrhoea. After taking the medication, if you experience any of these side effects, there are simple steps you can take to help make yourself feel more comfortable.
You can tell if acne is hormonal or bacteria by its severity if flare-ups occur during hormonal imbalances, and whether topical treatments resolve the issues, or if systemic medications are needed.
Does hormonal acne go away? Acne can't be cured, but with careful treatment you can keep it under control. The severity of the symptoms of hormonal acne are different for everyone. If you develop acne during puberty, it tends to peak at age 17-19 and for most people will go away by their mid-20s.
Hormonal acne happens because of hormone fluctuations, especially testosterone. A rise in testosterone may stimulate the excessive sebum production from the sebaceous glands. When this sebum combines with dirt, bacteria, and dead skin cells, it results in clogged pores and acne.
Question: Does Duac Once Daily Gel require refrigeration? Answer:Patients do not need to refrigerate the drug, but should not store it in temperatures exceeding 25 degrees celsius. Normally patients are advised to use the medicine with 2-3 months and to dispose of any unused tubes after this period has lapsed.
Additionally, Duac gel has been known to bleach hair, as well as making treated skin temporarily more sensitive to sunlight (well, UV light in general) — making it more likely to burn. It's important to use sunscreen on the treated areas if you are going out in direct sunlight.
Isotretinoin is a powerful drug that's used to treat the most severe cases of acne. Your doctor may recommend this drug if you have severe acne that doesn't get better with other medications, including antibiotics.
The package insert recommends that you apply a thin layer of DUAC Gel to the face, avoiding the eyes, mouth, lips, mucous membranes, or areas of broken skin. You'll need to apply it over the entire face and not just on individual pimples.
