Avoid Sweating and Water Activities For the first 24 hours post-spray tan, stay away from activities that could make you sweat excessively or involve water exposure. This includes vigorous workouts, swimming, and even washing dishes without gloves. Sweat and water can dilute your tan, causing it to fade unevenly.
Stay away from activities that will cause you to sweat or get wet. This includes exercising, being in excessive heat, saunas, sex, swimming, bathing or showering, etc, until the tan has fully developed (8 to 12 hours).
Can I workout immediately after getting a spray tan? Yes, you can totally wear your tan to the gym and shower after your workout. It's fine to workout with the tan still on. The tan will be fully developed in the morning. If you sweat, little bits of tan might wash off.
Sweating can fade spray/fake tans faster, but if you rinse off soon after your workouts and moisturize after it should still last you about a week. Going to a spray tan artist/tech will always get you the best results, but self tanning mousses or gradual lotions work decently well too.
What should I avoid after getting a spray tan? You should avoid bathing and activities that make you sweat heavily for at least 4 hours following a spray tan. And because chlorine can quickly break down a spray tan, we suggest avoiding chlorinated swimming pools entirely.
Loofahs, washcloths, brushes, and body washes with microbeads are all going to hasten the tan's departure. Your first shower after your spray tan will likely result in a puddle of colored water around your drain, but this is normal. As you leave the shower, make sure to pat yourself dry with the towel, don't rub.
Can You Sit After Spray Tanning? Yes! You just want to be sure there's a piece of clothing between you and any sticky surfaces - including your skin. That's why we recommend wearing long pants and a long shirt until your first shower.
For example, some people may be allergic to DHA, which can cause itching, redness, and swelling. In addition, other ingredients in the spray tan solution, such as fragrances or preservatives, may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.
Although the chlorine found in swimming pools can lead to a faster 'fade-off' you can still enjoy a swim and protect your tan. The key is to take quick dips to reduce the time your tan is in contact with the water and to gently pat yourself dry once you've come out of the pool to avoid rubbing off any colour.
Please do not pee in the shower when you have an Airbrush Spray Tan, the ammonia in the urine will cause your tan to streak. Do not use any soap during your first rinse. Once out of the shower pat your skin dry, do not rub. You will want to continue to pat your skin dry for the duration of your Airbrush Spray Tan.
To ensure the DHA (the tanning agent) has enough time to react with your skin for a rich, even color, we recommend waiting at least 12 hours before your first shower.
Always try to protect your skin from getting wet so it can fully dry and almost 'set' on the surface once you've applied your self tanner — this means avoiding strenuous exercise and visits to the gym where you're bound to perspire.

AFTER THE TAN

No, you don't have to be naked when you spray tan. While some people prefer to be nude to avoid tan lines, you have the option to wear whatever is most comfortable for you—like a swimsuit or underwear. During your tan, bronzer could transfer to your clothing but don't worry!
As sweat is acidic, it can cause self tan to break down when left to sit on the skin.
The answer to this question is yes—and no. Again, your tan will need time to develop, and you will have to eventually rinse your skin to remove the solution or clean your skin. While you shouldn't get sweaty immediately after your spray tan appointment, you won't have to avoid water until your tan fades.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, indoor tanning is connected to approximately 419,000 cases of skin cancer in the U.S. each year. As a result, sunless tanning products have been developed as a safer alternative since they lack the dangers associated with indoor tanning beds.
You can shave after tanning without removing all your newfound colour. Just make sure you wait at least 8 hours, so your tan has had time to develop. Then shave with gentle pressure, using a brand-new razor and an oil-free wash or shaving foam that won't break down your faux glow.
Never pee in the shower after your initial rinse.
After giving your spray tan several hours (or overnight) to develop, the initial water rinse is crucial. During this time, you'll see the brown color being rinsed off and what will remain on the skin is the faux tan.
Continue to avoid makeup, perfume, deodorant, soaps, and lotions during the development period. Do not wear tight clothing or bras after a session. Follow your technician's advice on when to shower based on the solution used. Avoid sweating excessively for the first 24 hours.
