Unfortunately, male and female pattern baldness is not reversible without surgical intervention. However, if detected early enough, certain medications, such as minoxidil, finasteride, and Dutasteride can help halt the progression of thinning hair.
A Change in Your Hairline
The most obvious of the stages of hair loss is a noticeable change in your hairline that you can clearly see. Baldness often begins in the hairline, with the flat or mildly receded hairline you previously had turned into a more obvious M-shaped hairline — basically, bald with hair on sides.
If you notice your hair is thinning, or you are experiencing hair loss, relaxers can make the problem worse, causing you to lose more hair. In a case where there is permanent hair loss, meaning the destruction of hair follicles, it is a good idea to stop relaxing your hair.

You can perform a “pull test” on your hair at home. Start with a small area of clean, dry hair, and run your fingers through it, tugging gently once you get to the ends of your hair strands. Eating a healthy, balanced diet can help mitigate stress and support proper hair growth. Foods rich in biotin and protein, such as eggs and milk, can support healthy hair and nail growth. Bananas also contain biotin.

DO wash your hair only when it is dirty, but know that thinner hair generally gets grimier faster than thicker hair. If you can, shampoo every other day to diminish damage from overwashing. To stretch the time between washes, try a dry shampoo with cornstarch or rice starch and a clear formulation.
Whilst thinning hair caused by Male Pattern Baldness will not 'get thicker' again of its own accord, where Telogen Effluvium is the only issue, normal hair growth can resume without intervention so the hair should return to its previous density within approximately six months.
The bottom line. There's no strong evidence to support using biotin for hair growth or to prevent hair loss in people without a deficiency. Because hair thinning and poor hair growth are sometimes associated with a biotin deficiency, correcting a deficiency can help restore hair growth in some people.
