It is better to avoid jojoba oil after microneedling. The oil contains a chemical called erucic acid. It is considered potentially toxic when taken orally. As microneedling increases the absorption into the blood stream of any products placed onto the skin after treatment it is best avoided.
Soothing Creams & Oils
After microneedling, use creams or serums with aloe vera, chamomile, green tea extract, or niacinamide. Rosehip oil can also help with healing but use it sparingly and only if your skin tolerates it.
As your skin heals, stay away from abrasive products such as alcohol-based toners and exfoliators. It may be tempting to exfoliate as usual but remember that your skin is healing and regenerating after microneedling. Instead, apply products that help soothe your skin and encourage it to heal.
Within two (2) days following your micro-needling procedure, you will notice skin dryness and flaking due to an increased turnover of skin cells. During this period, you may apply your regular skin moisturizer.
Skin that is pink and a bit sandy-looking is common for some clients in days 2 – 4 after the treatment. Just like any time you're kick-starting cell turnover with a treatment or skin exfoliation, your skin will be sensitive to UV rays.
What is hyaluronic acid, and why is it a good match for microneedling? Hyaluronic acid is the darling of the skincare world, and for good reason. Best known for its ability to retain 1,000 times its weight in water, this superstar hydrator acts as a humectant, keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised.
However, you'll want to stick with gentle, natural ingredients for at least the first 48 hours. Safe options after the procedure include hyaluronic acid and coconut oil. Avoid any harsh commercial products or acids.
Within the first 6─8 hours after the treatment, one can wash their skin with clean, lukewarm water, because the active chemicals in the face wash are absorbed directly through the pores, which may occasionally cause further irritation and can also hurt skin if applied too soon after the procedure.
Cleanse and pat skin dry post-dermarolling before application. Massage 2-3 drops of 100% pure rosemary oil into treatment areas. Apply within 30 minutes after dermarolling while skin is still open. Reapply once or twice daily as desired while healing.
Argan is a wonderful rejuvenating oil but is best avoided after microneedling treatments. It is a very thick oil which is best used on more mature skin. Its cloying nature can lead to blocked pores and rashes post microneedling.
Most people need multiple microneedling treatments, usually about 3 weeks to 8 weeks apart. It can take 3 months to 6 months to see results. Afterward, you might need the procedure once a year for maintenance.
Why Do I Look Older After Microneedling? You might look older after microneedling because your skin is temporarily inflamed and shedding older layers.
How soon will my body produce collagen after RF microneedling? RF microneedling uses your body to heal itself, which takes time. In general, you can expect peak collagen production to produce results about 3 – 4 weeks after your session, though you may see continued results for up to six weeks.
Microneedling is incredibly effective for plumping the skin around pores, giving the appearance they've shrunk. It's how to get smooth skin like a baby.
Keep Your Skin Hydrated and Use Hyaluronic Serum
Typically, we suggest a hyaluronic serum after microneedling to avoid excess peeling and flaking.
Can I sleep on my side after microneedling? It's best to sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first night after microneedling. This minimizes the risk of irritation and ensures that your skin stays clean while it begins to heal.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors increase risk of bruising and swelling).

Vitamin A products are optimal and suggested (low dose). As microneedling serves to stimulate the production of collagen, the skin needs higher amounts of collagen than normal to recover optimally. Collagen Stimulating Peptides assist in that process, further aiding in the stimulation of collagen production.
Even though microneedling benefits the skin, overdoing it can cause serious risks, including skin irritation, redness, and inflammation, leading to discomfort. Overdoing treatments or not allowing ample time between sessions can lead to scarring and even hyperpigmentation.
