Ideally enjoy a pedicure PRIOR to your spray tan…just be sure they do not use lotion on your legs (feet are okay). You can get a pedicure after your spray tan has set in (so wait a day) just be sure they do NOT use exfoliating scrub or hot towels on your legs.
The reason it's not recommended is because. when you get your nails done, they soak and they scrub, and if you're doing your nails, they use acetone, which will pull the, um. Which will pull the nail, the spray tan off. So if you can see right here, my thumb, for example, I just got my nails done today.
Manicures and pedicures MUST be done the day before you tan. DO NOT go get a pedicure after your tan because your tan will be scrubbed off and you will look like a hot mess.
Getting a pedicure after a spray tan is not recommended because the chemicals and exfoliants used during the pedicure process can potentially strip away the tan, leading to uneven or patchy results.
Apply nail varnish.
Any kind of nail polish will protect your nails from fake tan stains. Even a clear nail varnish will work, so the colour you choose doesn't have to be visible.
What should I avoid after getting a spray tan? You should avoid bathing and activities that make you sweat heavily for at least 4 hours following a spray tan. And because chlorine can quickly break down a spray tan, we suggest avoiding chlorinated swimming pools entirely.
Tan Removal : The D-Tan pedicure manicure kit effectively helps in removing tan from your hands and feet, restoring their natural skin tone.
For anyone wearing nail polish and/or fake tan these can stain the nails leaving a yellow - orange appearance on the nails. This should grow out as the nail grows.
We recommend getting your spray tan 2 - 3 days before the big day. It's definitely best to avoid the wedding-eve as the tan will continue to develop for 24-48 hours, so will need some time for the full result to appear.
Wait at least 12 hours post spray tan initial rinse to workout again. Take short lukewarm showers and pay dry post shower while you're spray tanned. Try to not excessively sweat while you're spray tanned, avoid hot workout classes until you want to start the tan removal process.
I prefer that you are slipping into a flip-flop or a loose-fitting slipper type of shoe to go home in. But a loose-fitting soft cotton sock is ok to put on after a spray tan such as the fleecy slouchy socks if it's cold outside. No tight footie socks. They rub on the front of your ankle causing a mark on your tan.
Book Your Spray or Airbrush Tan Last
“Other beauty services like nails, lymphatic drainage massages, and facials can make your tan look uneven, so get all of those before you get sprayed,” says DiMarchi.
Once you've finished applying fake tan to the rest of your body, use the left over product on your mitt to tan your feet – we promise, it's enough. Glide the tanning mitt over your feet, making sure you lightly sweep over your toes, the sides of your feet and the backs of your ankles.
Nail appointments ideally should be done 24 hours before your spray tan. Nails and pedicures CAN be done the day of your spray tan, but please exfoliate any lotion or residue off. Nail appointments CANNOT be done immediately after your spray tan.
I'd like to get a massage after my tan, is that okay? Of course! As long as you wait 24 hours after the application - it is a great form of moisturization for your tan!
Can You Sit After Spray Tanning? Yes! You just want to be sure there's a piece of clothing between you and any sticky surfaces - including your skin. That's why we recommend wearing long pants and a long shirt until your first shower.
Spray tans usually last between seven to nine days and it is actually better to book a spray tan two to three days before a special event, party or wedding. By doing this, you will allow your tan to fully develop. Remember when you rinse-off your tan in the shower, use warm water to avoid losing any colour.
Just make sure you are able to remove all of the lotion/oils that your nail tech applies on your skin before you come in for your spray tan. If you absolutely must get your nails done after your spray tan, you need to wait until after your first shower.
To ensure the DHA (the tanning agent) has enough time to react with your skin for a rich, even color, we recommend waiting at least 12 hours before your first shower.

Opt for Warm-Toned Nail Colors
Warm-toned nail colors like coral, peach, or bronze can enhance your tan. These shades create a harmonious and flattering look that brings out the warmth in your complexion. Experiment with different warm-toned shades to find the ones that complement your skin tone the best.
Steam is an effective way to help remove spray tan from your hands and feet, as well as the rest of your body. The heat and sweat help soften your skin and the color, making it easier to wipe off later. Use a warm, wet washcloth and gently rub in circular motions on skin following your time in the steam.
SKIN/NAIL CARE
Your nails and toenails will be wiped down at the end of your spray tan, and it prevents your nails from staining. If you have acrylic nails or a gel manicure on before your spray tan appointment, the spray tan will NOT ruin your nails.
The Truth About Tanning The truth is that tanning does not permanently darken the skin, regardless of whether it is natural or artificial. The additional melanin produced is only temporary, and once the UV exposure stops, your skin will gradually fade back to its original color.
