While there is no way to change the texture of the hair follicles, there are many ways to make the hair appear thicker and reduce breakage and hair loss, such as eating a nutritious diet and scalp massage. Thin or thinning hair is common and can affect anyone.
Can you increase hair density? Like many other aspects of hair — like its color and texture — hair density is determined by genetics. Your hair grows out of a part of your skin called a hair follicle. You can't change the number of hair follicles you have.
Although hair re-growth may be possible, you should also know when to seek professional help. If the reason for thinning hair is genetics, it will not grow back on its own. To grow back a healthy, full head of hair, you'll need to take action, and that involves reviewing different hair loss options.
Use a volumizing shampoo or thickening shampoo.
Thickening shampoos focus on individual strands of hair, while volumizing shampoos focus more on the roots. Thickening shampoos work by infusing the hair with proteins, vitamins, polymers, and/or moisture that plump up each strand making each piece appear thicker.

"Sudden thinning hair can be a symptom of anemia (low red blood cell count), hormonal issues especially related to events like pregnancy, or a thyroid disorder, which are all very common in women," says Dr. Peredo.
Unfortunately, male and female pattern baldness is not reversible without surgical intervention. However, if detected early enough, certain medications, such as minoxidil, finasteride, and Dutasteride can help halt the progression of thinning hair.
Lifestyle factors could include using certain hair products, wearing your hair up too tightly, experiencing high stress levels, or not getting enough of certain vitamins and minerals in your diet. People who have immune system deficiencies could also have thinning hair.
Pattern hair loss
As you age, some follicles stop producing hair. This is referred to as hereditary hair loss, pattern hair loss, or androgenetic alopecia. This type of hair loss is typically permanent, which means that the hair will not grow back.
