You also will want to stay clear of using any exfoliating skin tools (for one week) or undergoing any cosmetic practices (for at least two weeks) during the healing process. Caffeine, alcohol and processed foods dehydrate your skin and can slow your body's healing process.
Do not consume alcohol in the seven days following your treatment. Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it has dehydrating properties. Unfortunately, being dehydrated will slow your skin's healing process drastically.
Exercising and Sweating
We advise patients to avoid sweaty exercise right after microneedling, as it can contribute to irritation and swelling while potentially exposing the skin to bacteria.
Eat colors. Fruits and vegetables are packed with antioxidants, which protect your skin from free radical damage and help to reduce the effects of the sun on your skin. Blueberries, dark leafy vegetables, tomatoes, and pumpkin are superfoods to boost these ingredients into your skin and aid collagen production.
Avoid exfoliants, retinols, and vitamin C
Retinol and vitamin C serum should be avoided for at least the first 48 hours after microneedling.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors increase risk of bruising and swelling).
Avoid saunas, steam rooms and hot baths or showers until the redness is gone. -Avoid waxing and any other skin care treatment for two weeks following the treatment. -After 2-3 days you can return to regular skin care products or as soon as it is comfortable to do so.
After Microneedling Treatment
Wait at least four hours to wash your face. Your skin may feel warm and tight and look red for one to three days. During this period, use a delicate cleanser and moisturizer, and apply 1% hydrocortisone cream as needed to soothe skin irritation.
Skin that is well-cared for and in good condition will gain the best results. We recommend you have a good skincare routine established at least 2 weeks before commencing a course of micro-needling. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing morning and night with a good sunscreen used daily would be the absolute minimum.
Discoloration caused by skin needling is rare, but can occur if the needle depth is 1.5 mm or deeper, and the procedure is done too frequently. This negligence can cause irritation in the skin which can be one possible cause to post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.
As a general rule of thumb, microneedling treatment can be safely done about once a month or every 4 to 6 weeks.
CLEAN – Use a gentle cleanser and tepid water to cleanse the face for 72 hours post-treatment, and gently dry the treated skin. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area, and do not use a Clarisonic or other powered cleansing brushes for at least one week after your treatment.
Integrate Supportive Diet & Lifestyle Habits
Maintaining these wellness habits will significantly aid in the healing process and optimize collagen production. You should not consume any alcohol within 24 hours before and refrain from having any caffeinated foods or drinks the day of your microneedling procedure.
First Few Days: Continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing over the next few days. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or using exfoliants for 1 week. Apply sunscreen daily and you can use makeup if needed starting the day after treatment.
Your results will last anywhere from three to five months, and many patients schedule follow-up treatments twice a year to maintain their results. Taking good care of your skin through a conscientious at-home beauty routine can help preserve your results.
You may also notice small bumps after microneedling. This is a normal and expected part of the process as your skin recovers from the various abrasions caused by the needles and heals. However, you should take note if you see any bleeding or infection, as that could indicate a more serious reaction.
It is important to apply this 3-4 times in the first 24 hours after treatment and then apply twice daily until finished. Start to gently exfoliate the skin after 3-5 days with ASAP or Skinstitut Facial Exfoliant Scrub to remove the flaky dead skin that commonly forms after treatments.
Most people get microneedling on the face, but it can also done on other parts of the body, such as your stomach or thighs.
While there are many treatments available to address pore size, microneedling stands out as a successful way to improve pore size, skin texture, and discoloration, as well as, taking care of the appearance of those fine lines you try to hide.
To ensure the most ideal healing environment, do not use AHA'S (Glycolic Acid), retinols, Vitamin C Serums or any alcohol-based toners for 2-3 days after your procedure.
One week following treatment: Most of our patients will notice improvements in their skin just one short week after treatment. Initial results usually include improved skin tone, a reduction in acne visibility, and improved skin texture.
Micro-needling can be safely repeated every 2-4 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction, we recommend starting with 3 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 2 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction, an average of 6 treatments are recommended.
Fine Lines and Loose Skin
This happens because our bodies produce less collagen over time, taking away our skin's structure. This is most noticeable in sagging skin, but it's the reason behind wrinkles and uneven skin texture too.
