A statement color, glowing skin, and graphic eyeliner are not going out of style anytime soon. And don't forget to add on your face gems–they're a must-have (trust us).
Consider it the Euphoria effect, but colored liner is one of the hottest styles for 2022.
The smoky eye of 2022 is unstructured like it was slept in, pairing a liner pencil smudged into the lash line with a smoky-toned shadow and finish with fluttery natural lashes.
The waterline eye trend requires coating both lash lines in deep, smudgy liner — a familiar look if you were a tween or older in the mid-00s. The 2022 version of the trend employs a more advanced technique than most probably used back in the day, but the results are no less striking.
It is best not to use liquid liner at all on the bottom lashes since it has the potential to smudge unevenly and create fine lines below the eyes. Additionally, it can make the eyes appear harsh because it is difficult to blend.
Applying a thick, black eyeliner makes your eyes appear really small and beady — making you look older than you are. An easy solution to this problem is to switch your back eyeliner with a brown one for a softer and more youthful appearance.
No! Wearing eyeliner is entirely up to you and will depend on the look you're trying to create. If you want more definition, then eyeliner is a great way of adding depth to that lash line. But if you want a more natural appearance, you'll probably want to give the eyeliner a miss.
Insider asked two style experts to share which fashion trends should be left in 2022. Denim-on-denim looks and camo-print clothes are both fading, as are larger sunglasses. They also said high-waisted pants were being replaced by mid- and low-rise varieties.
Opt for a lighter eyeshadow rather than a dark, smoky shade on your eyelids and around the eyes, like Jenna Dewan Tatum. "Highlighting the corners makes eyes look brighter and fresh," says Ahnert. "Use a light color shadow in matte or shimmer to inner corner, lower lash line in outer corner, and the inner lid."
Having made a seemingly shy debut during Fashion Week in 2021, the black eyeliner look seems to be sticking around for yet another year as fashion Houses have opted for a dramatic lid for their Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture shows. Chanel, for example, has truly mastered the approach to a bold look.
Apply eyeliner to the upper lid.
Pull your upper eyelid taut to the side. Keeping the tip of the eyeliner pencil as close to your lash line as possible, draw a thin line going from the outer corner of the eye to the inner corner of your eye. Repeat this process multiple times if you want a thick line.
Women of any age can wear eyeliner. There is no age limit to apply eyeliner.
There's a time and place for the overblown black eyeliner look made popular by the one and only Julia Fox, but baby wings are by and large the big trend for 2022. “Black, browns, and bold shades are an interesting yet subtle twist on the traditional cat eye,” Williamson says.
CLOTHES OUT OF STYLE 2023
High waisted jeans, high waisted pants, high waist tennis skirts, skater skirts, knit pants, bleached denim jeans, hoodie sets, short blazers, leggings, fur coats, cropped leather jacket, high low dresses, and cold shoulders are some of the favourite clothes out of fashion for winter 2023.
DON'T line your whole eye.
Drawing your eyeliner from outside corner all of the way to the inside corner of your eye, on top and bottom, is just a whole lotta eyeliner. It's harsh and unflattering, and makes your eyes appear smaller. It also makes it look like you wear a studded black belt over your Billabong t-shirt.
Keeping your look as simple as possible is a great idea for summer and it's totally fine to wear eyeliner without eyeshadow. In fact, if you're looking to speed up your makeup routine, try skipping mascara and wearing a very thin black or dark brown liner close to the lash line.
White to bright. “Use a white (or nude) kohl pencil eyeliner on your waterline for an instant eye lift. White eyeliner is a secret weapon to give the effect of wider, more awake and brighter eyes. Choose a water and smudge proof brand that will stay put all day.”
"Keep the liner to the top lid for a more lifted, youthful effect." If you really, really want to go after your bottom lash line, Stiles recommends using a lighter color there than you're using on the top. "This will still give you definition, but feels softer and more flattering," she adds.
