Relax the Lash Lift Using the Same Solutions Apply the lifting solution using a spoolie for no more than two to three minutes, brushing them out or against the lift. This will break down the bonds of the lifting solution and should cause the lashes to relax and straighten out.
There's not much you can do, they're over processed and will fall off if you try to reverse it, even if seen by a professional. It typically takes at least 6 weeks for your lashes to go through a complete shed cycle.
Apply a nourishing lash serum or conditioner to help soften the lashes. This can help reduce the curl over time. Steam Your Face: Boil water and let it cool slightly. Place your face over the steam (keeping a safe distance) for about 10-15 minutes. The heat and moisture can help relax the lashes.
If you feel their lash hairs could endure another round of processing without causing severe long-term damage, you can consider re-lifting their lashes.
If you get home and aren't happy with your lash lift, the first thing to do is pick up the phone and contact the salon where you had it done. They should be able to help you by either offering to relax them, or at least refunding you. The good news is your lash lift will grow out eventually.
The most straightforward solution for over-processed lashes is to wait for them to fall out and be replaced by new growth naturally. This process usually takes several weeks. During this time, avoid additional lash treatments to allow full recovery.
Option 1: Oil Application
Natural oils like coconut, castor, or olive oil can help. They can weaken the chemical bonds formed during the lifting process. Before sleep, apply a small amount to the lashes with a clean brush and rinse it off in the morning.
Pressing the cotton pad gently on top of your lashes will usually do the trick. Using another spoolie, apply a nourishing oil to your lashes. Brush gently from the roots down the ends. If you've done everything correctly, you'll notice that your eyelashes have relaxed a bit.
Over-processing occurs when the chemicals used in a lash lift treatment are too potent or left on for too long. This results in dry, brittle lashes prone to breakage. Moreover, your lashes might lose their natural curl or appear overly curled, giving them an unnatural look.
It's too easy to accidentally not follow aftercare - rubbing your eyes, sleeping on your face, working out, getting water on your lashes - these are all things that could potentially ruin any lash lift if done within 24 hours of the procedure.
As for how to fix over-processed lash lift, all you need to do is apply the perming solution again. Use the spoolie to straighten the lashes and leave it on for 5 minutes. Now, apply the setting solution for 1 minute; you'll have a lighter curl to your lashes.
The simplest solution might be to wait for your lashes to regrow naturally. The overly lifted effect generally relaxes within 3 weeks, and by 6-8 weeks, new lash growth usually replaces the lifted lashes, resolving the issue without additional interaction.
Q: Can you cry with a lash lift and tint? A: Avoid crying in the 24 hours after your procedure to give the results time to set properly, as wetting your lashes during the period conteracts the solution that keeps them lifted and curled.
Usually, lash lifts last 6-8 weeks on average, but this can vary depending on several factors, including how well you look after them. It's important to use an oil-free makeup remover and avoid rubbing or sleeping with your face against a pillow when sleeping.
Maintenance: Lash lifts typically last for 6-8 weeks, after which the lashes will gradually return to their natural state. To maintain the lifted shape, it is recommended to get touch-up treatments every 6-8 weeks, or as needed.
Weakening of Lashes: Removing mascara from lifted lashes prematurely can weaken the lashes and potentially cause breakage or damage.
Can You Do a Lash Lift Again If It Didn't Work? Yes, a lash lift can be redone if the initial attempt fails, but it's important to approach this carefully: Wait Time: It's advisable to wait a minimum of 4–6 weeks before reattempting to avoid overprocessing or damaging the lashes.
You must wait 24 hours after a lift and tint to shower. We use 24 hours as a buffer time to allow the lashes to set properly and avoid any issues with the lift. After the 24 hours waiting period you can wash your face and lashes like normal.
By 'fixing' your lashes, they will just redo the same process. You're better off not having them done again, as it can be damaging. Oil them with any oil you're used to using. Wait it out & they'll return normal soon.
3. DIY Oil Treatment. A more natural approach involves using oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, or castor oil. These oils can help relax the curl over time.
Gently Brush You Eyelashes: Use a clean, dry spoolie to comb through your lashes. Sleep on Your Back: This prevents your lashes from pressing against your pillow and potentially losing shape. Use Oil-Free Products on Your Eyes: If you must use products, ensure they're oil-free to avoid breaking down the lift solution.
Quick fix: To fix a lash lift that has gone wrong due to over-processing, reapply the perming solution. Straighten the lashes with a lash wand or spoolie and leave for five minutes. Next, apply the setting solution for a single minute only; voila, your lashes will have a lighter curl.
As we state in our lash lift aftercare instructions, we highly recommend avoiding water AND makeup products for at least 24 hours after your treatment (& longer if possible). The reason we ask you to keep your lashes dry is to ensure that the curl has the appropriate amount of time to settle and properly form.
The first 24 hours are crucial. Make sure your lashes stay dry during this period because water, steam, and sweat can interfere with the lifting solution and cause the curl to drop. To maintain your lash lift for as long as possible, switch to oil-free cleansers, makeup removers, and skincare products around your eyes.
