To get this advantage, it is essential to always apply one extension lash to a natural lash at a time. Some technicians like to put a few lashes together to create a fuller look on your lashes, but that can completely take away the “natural” look that you are trying to achieve with the lashes.
Well, this is actually very common. A lot of new lash artists look for an ideal natural lash to apply the extension to - always keep in mind that every lash needs an extension applying to it, so it really doesn't matter which lash you choose to do first.
In most cases, there are three lash layers: top, middle, and bottom. Using different lengths, different diameters, and different fan widths will determine the look of the finished eyelashes.
A full refill includes 25–45 new extensions applied per eye to really nail that fullness factor. If more always equals better for you, you can also up the ante with 10, 20 or 30 extra lashes.
Lash extensions should be attached to the natural lash about 1 mm away from the lash line to ensure proper shedding and cleanliness.
Your lash extensions only last a week!
This often happens when not enough lash extensions have been applied. If you think you've found the cheapest technician around then the chances are they aren't spending enough time during the appointment to provide a long lasting, full lash effect.
What happens if glue gets in your eyes? During the lash application process your eyes will be closed the entire time. Because of this the likelihood of getting glue into your eyes is slim to none.
Lash extension fills are simply new lashes placed on natural lashes as the old ones fall off. Ideally, your client will come in every two to four weeks, but longer wait times may mean it will take longer to fill the lashes as more lashes will need to be filled.
Refills maintain the dense look of your lash set and to prevent damages from heavy and droopy outgrown lashes. Lash refills every 2-3 weeks are essential to keeping your lashes looking their best.
Did you know? On average, a person loses about 20% of their natural lashes every two weeks. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles, which occurs every 60 to 90 days. Depending on their individual lash growth cycles, a person can typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes every day.
An extra row of eyelashes is known medically as distichiasis (pronounced dis-tic-key-i-asis) and it's a rare disorder. Eye specialists refer to it as an "accessory row" of eyelashes. Eyelashes normally grow on the outside edge of the eyelid and they may not always grow in one straight row, explains Dr.
Typically, distichiasis affects all four eyelids, but it can show up on just one lid or the lower lids. The extra lashes come out of the meibomian glands on the edge of the eyelid. These glands normally produce an oil that coats tears, which stops them from drying up too quickly.
On average, humans have 90 to 150 eyelashes on the upper lid and 70 to 80 eyelashes on the bottom lash line. But as with everything, we're not all average and you will always find the exceptions. Some people having as few as 50 lashes and some with 200 plus on their upper lid.
If you've ever had your eyelash extensions grow out naturally, you might notice that your lashes look extra stubby and short – this is most likely because your lashes broke when the lash extension came off!
Generally it is only normal if you lose between 3 to 5 lashes per day. Your natural eyelashes fall off and regenerates at a reasonable rate. When you rub your eyes some of your natural lashes twist off. But if you lose most of your eyelash extensions within the first week it isn't normal.
On the flip side, if you don't give your lash extensions the same attention between fills, your lashes lose. Your stylist will be required to spend more time cleaning your lash extensions and potentially maneuvering between natural lashes that have experienced premature shedding due to poor care.
If you take a 4-week break from extensions, you should see regrowth of your natural lash line. If you don't, it's been damaged and continuing with the extensions will only cause further damage. For me, it has now been years since my last eyelash extensions, and my natural lashes never fully recovered.
After 2 weeks, you may have lost 42 lashes. After 3 weeks, you may have lost 63 lashes. So we recommend booking a lash infill appointment 2-3 weeks after the initial appointment.

Glued to the skin instead of lashes: When eyelash extensions are glued to the skin, it creates something called a nailhead. This will eventually pull out natural lashes and hurt your eyes within days or weeks after the treatment.
“Lash extensions alone will not ruin your lashes,” says Richardson. “Damage to the natural lashes is the result of improper application, or the stylist not selecting the correct type of lash for an existing natural lash.
