We all perspire while we sleep, and if you go to bed with a fresh sunless tan, where there is skin-on-skin contact it can cause a transfer of tan.
Yes, you can sleep in the clear solution. It is designed for this and it's bronzer free. However, it's recommended to only leave it on for 8 hours max.
Optimal Time to Shower After a Fake Tan
Timing your first rinse is key to achieving a flawless, streak-free glow. Wait 4-8 hours before showering to let your tan fully develop, but avoid leaving it on for more than 24 hours.
Putting clothes on, sitting or laying down immediately is a big no-no initially. You may rub off a significant amount of product that is only just beginning to “set”. Instead, embrace your birthday suit and implement a “clothes optional” policy for an hour or two.
Sleeping in your EXPRESS TAN will not make your tan darker or better. It will overdevelop on many areas especially dry ones and look like crap.
what happens if i forget to shower off the tan? the longer you keep the tan on, the darker it will get. however, some skin types may experience discoloration (looking a bit orange or yellow) if left on too long past around 8 hours. you may also get a streaky tan as you're more likely to rub or wash off some sections.
If you have chosen the Regular developing solution, it is recommended that you wait 8-12 hours to rinse off depending on desired result. This will allow your tan to fully develop. It is fine to leave the Airbrush Spray Tanning solution on overnight and rinse in the morning.
You can apply it in the morning and be sure to have the best glow for the afternoon or even leave it overnight for a deeper tan! It leaves a really soft skin and does not transfer anywhere. That's so cool, no more worries about white clothes or breakdown. I absolutely recommend it for a natural and cool glow!
Applying at night gives your self-tanner time to develop a natural tan look. Things like showering, rain, or tight clothes can mess up your tan when it's trying to settle. And some tanning products will also stain! As the self-tanner process can take up to eight hours, applying right before bed is super convenient.
AFTER THE TAN
Shower lightly in cold – lukewarm water for 45 seconds ONLY after your desired development time. Use plain water, don't use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment. Pat your skin dry. Do not rub or scrub your skin.
Our Self Tan ranges can be washed off after just 1 hour, but for a deeper tan, we advise avoiding showering, swimming, and perspiring for 6 - 8 hours to allow your tan to develop fully on the skin.
You can shave after tanning without removing all your newfound colour. Just make sure you wait at least 8 hours, so your tan has had time to develop. Then shave with gentle pressure, using a brand-new razor and an oil-free wash or shaving foam that won't break down your faux glow.
Use a hairdryer. Once you have the perfect coverage, grab your hairdryer to help it set. Be sure it's blowing cool air and move it along your body. Not only will this help the solution dry faster, but it'll also help to kick the tanning development process into overdrive.
For those who want a more subtle, slight colour lift that looks so natural you can hardly tell you're faking it… then leaving fake tan on overnight is risky.
You don't necessarily tan faster in water or laying out. This is because water reflects UV rays, so you may not be getting as much exposure as you think if you're actually in the pool.
The skin on our face is typically more sensitive and prone to breakouts, so using a self tan that has been made for your body may just result in irritation and clogged pores.
You can leave your self tan on for as long as you like, with each product having a different recommended timeframe. Some people prefer to sleep with it overnight to get a deeper glow.
As for when you can repeat this process, typically you can use self-tanner every day or every other day until you reach your desired level of color and then once or twice a week to help maintain the results.
The Two-Day Rule: When it comes to tanning before an event, it is generally recommended to have a spray tan or apply your own tan two days prior to the occasion. The reason behind this is that all tans take approximately 24 hours to fully develop, even after rinsing off the initial bronzer.
Our self-tan water is completely transparent meaning you don't need to wash off after application. Our crystal clear formula means no transfer on clothes or sheets.
A tanning water product is also ideal if your skin is particularly dry and sensitive. Its nourishing and hydrating properties will help to revitalise the skin, all while delivering a gorgeous golden glow. If you're after a deeper, longer-lasting tan, tanning mousse is your go-to.
Skin may be washed after one hour. For a longer lasting, darker tan leave for up to 6 hours before showering with warm water. Gently pat skin dry.
Avoid sleeping on your stomach or sides: If possible, try to sleep on your back to minimize the amount of contact your tan has with the sheets. This can help prevent smudging and ensure your tan stays intact.
Like all Tanologist products, it features our signature trio of pink grapefruit, goji berry & juniper to brighten, soften and hydrate. The express formula develops in just one hour, and increases in colour the longer you leave it on. For the deepest bronze, max it out overnight before showering.
After applying your self-tanner, you'll need to give the product time to dry and settle on your skin. Do not get dressed right away, wrap yourself in a towel, or lie down. Wait about 10 to 15 minutes before putting clothes on—and even then, wear loose-fitting attire.
