Answer: Forehead lines can take time to disappear after Botox or Dysport. Some lines go away immediately after Botox or Dysport injections in the forehead, but others can be unchanged if the muscle is not adequately relaxed with the treatment.
When injected properly by a medical doctor, you can expect to see results after your first treatment. It can take two to four days before the weakening of the muscle begins and movement is stalled. You can see the maximum results of your treatment anywhere from ten to fourteen days after treatment.
A successful Botox treatment in the forehead should still result in the patient having some ability to move their forehead. However, remember that to prolong the lifespan of your Botox, try your best to minimize movement in the forehead for the next few months.
Once you get Botox, your muscle movement will be restricted. Rather than being a filler (which is what many people mistakenly think), Botox is actually a muscle-relaxer. To gain back your youthful appearance, Botox will stop your muscles from moving when you frown or are surprised!
On the other hand, the muscle in the upper forehead which is responsible for the formation of the horizontal forehead wrinkles when a person raises the brows (frontalis) serves to pull the brows upward. If one of these muscles is relaxed with Botox and the others are not, the other muscles will still be active.
Answer: Botox migration
The botox can migrate either at the time of injection or for a little while afterwards. The effect may only come on after days to 2 weeks later as the botox starts to work. The greater the volume injected the greater the risk of migration.
However, BOTOX results are day by day, as it takes a few days to settle into place. Some patients may see the impact of their treatment as early as 3 – 4 days, but most people begin to see results in about 10 – 14 days.
The most common reason that Botox does not work is that not enough was given. Botox is not a one size fits all treatment and the same dosage does not work for everyone. Some individuals may need additional Botox to reach an effective level of muscle weakness. The Botox may also be old, overdiluted, or fake.
You will start to feel a little tightness in the skin. When you try to make exaggerated facial gestures, you will notice the effect in the areas of the face that were treated. In one to two weeks, you will notice the maximum effect of Botox on even the deepest wrinkles.
Too much Botox in the forehead muscles can cause the eyebrows to droop, making the upper eyelids look very heavy and hooded. The face may look angry or sad all the time. Too much Botox around the eyes can dramatically affect facial expression. The face is simply frozen.
The eyebrows can start rising even before the full effect of Botox on the forehead wears off. It might take 4-6 weeks, but the eyebrow will be back to it's normal position for sure. Sometimes, we can help the eyebrow to lift by giving Botox to the muscle that pulls it down, Orbicularis Oculii.
In general, you can see the effects of Botox as early as 3 to 4 days after an injection. Dr. Oscar Trujillo, a facial plastic surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, says most patients will see results within 10 to 14 days but should wait the full 14 days to see the maximum results.
How long does eyebrow heaviness last? Rest assured, heavy eyebrows after Botox are temporary. The heavy sensation will completely go away once your Botox wears off in 3 months. But it usually becomes less noticeable after a week or two.
“'Some telltale signs of 'Bad Botox' are asymmetry of facial movement, excessive brow elevation and unnatural brow shape, noticeable upper-eyelid hooding, a 'frozen' look, and some lines getting smoother and others looking exaggerated,” explains New York facial plastic surgeon Konstantin Vasyukevich, MD, who offers ...
It's working when your lines start to fade away. “The treated area will appear smoother and look more refreshed,” said Dr. Sapna Palep, founder of Spring Street Dermatology. After your first treatment, Palep says you may feel a slightly tight sensation or a feeling of heaviness, which will subside in 1 to 2 weeks.
Why Does Botox Make Your Forehead Shiny? Light naturally reflects off of smooth surfaces, so the smoother your skin, the more light will bounce. Botox injections smooth the skin, which can cause it to appear shinier, especially if it is overdone.
Answer: Botox takes a while to work
Once the muscles stop contracting, the lines can take quite a while to disappear in some patients. If you continue to maintain the inability of the muscles to contract by having repeat Botox before the muscle wakes up ( around 3 to 4 months), the lines should continue to improve.
It can take up to one week for the Botox to show full effect. I would recommend giving it some time. Following up with your provider would be the next best step if you still do not see a result after a week.
How Often You Have Botox Treatments. The more frequently you have Botox injections, the longer the effect will last between sessions! Some doctors have reported repeat clients who can go up to a year between injections.
How long does it take for BOTOX to work? The results of BOTOX typically begin to appear within a few days after the injection. However, the full results may not be visible for about 1 – 2 weeks, so it is important to wait an adequate amount of time before seeking a touch-up treatment.
For horizontal forehead lines, practitioners can inject up to 15–30 units of Botox. For “11” lines between the eyes (or glabellar lines), up to 40 units are indicated, with higher doses needed in male patients .
The reason for this delay is due to the time it takes for the body to start reacting to the Botox after it's been injected. Because of this, we like to have our patients come back after two weeks to check on their progress.
More importantly, rubbing or massaging can cause the injected BOTOX to migrate to other parts of the face. Avoid lying down or bending over for several hours after the treatment to help prevent facial swelling and migration of the toxin. If possible, avoid lying down until bedtime.
You should still be able to move your forehead and make facial expressions following Botox injections, as long as you have a full consultation with your provider prior to getting the treatment. It is important to discuss your aesthetic goals when getting a procedure such as Botox.
When Botox migrates to either the forehead or the area between the eyes, this can result in a droopy eyelid. One reason people choose Botox may be to reduce the appearance of forehead or vertical frown lines.
