Pores can become clogged with excess oil, dead skin, or dirt, or they can appear more prominent as a result of too much sun exposure. Other factors that can influence pores becoming clogged include genetics and hormones.
Usually, genetics determine larger pores. But, oily skin, sun damage and aging can be other factors that make your pores look bigger. While you can't change the size of your pores, you can minimize the appearance of enlarged pores.
According to dermatologist Dr Jaishree Sharad, ice cannot affect the opening or closing of skin pores.
Still, if you want to reduce the size of your pores, skip the hot or cold treatments. They won't produce long-lasting effects. Instead, look for facial products made with retinol or alpha hydroxy acids, which can help remove blockages and make pores appear smaller. Pore strips may help, too.

“Since cold water tightens your pores, bacteria and debris can get trapped and won't clear out as easily as using warm water,” explains Knapp. She recommends washing your face with lukewarm water first as a way to remove any makeup and pollutants from the day.
Laser Treatments
Several treatments are available at Dermatology and Laser Centre. Fractional ablative laser skin resurfacing decreases the appearance of pores and acne scars. For enlarged pores, Dr. Gallacher uses the Vbeam laser as well as fractionated CO2 lasers.
Have a seat, drape your towel over your head and the pot, and hold your face 6 inches above the water. Raise or lower your head for more or less heat and lift a corner of the towel to cool off if needed. Steam your face for 5 to 10 minutes.
Apple cider vinegar is known to cleanse the skin and also shrink the pores. It acts as a toner and tightens your skin. In a bowl, dilute 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of water. Using your fingertips, massage this solution on the enlarged pores and let it dry naturally.
Apply a facial pore cleanser with salicylic acid nightly. "It's a beta hydroxy acid that has increased solubility in oil and can travel deep within pores," Dr. Feely says. You can also talk to your dermatologist about a stronger in-office chemical peel to further clear out pores.

Benefits of steaming your face with lemon and honey

Wash your face while the water is heating up.
Removing makeup and dirt is a must before steaming, because steaming opens up your pores, and anything on your face will be able to get inside and cause irritation or pimples to occur. After washing your face, pat it dry with a towel.
After a hot bath or shower, or steam room to open your pores, fastest way to close them up is to take a cool/cold shower. Otherwise, figure one hour for them to close naturally, depending on the outside environment. If you're in hot weather, they will stay open longer versus cool/cold weather.
Baking soda can help minimise this issue by closing your skin's pores and also shrinking them slightly in appearance. This ingredient has astringent-like properties that help close the pores and prevent them from clogging with dirt that gives rise to blackheads and acne.
Mix the baking soda and water to form a paste. Splash your face a few times with warm water to open up your pores. Or wet a wash cloth with very hot water and drape it over your face until it cools down. This helps open up your pores to loosen up the dirt and impurities.
Chemical peels are great for reducing the size of your pores when the root cause is dirt and debris. Peels can promote cellular turnover and remove the debris, dead skin cells and blackheads that make your pores appear larger than they are.
Smaller Pores
The more water you drink, the better balance of oil and water on the surface of your skin. This can help reduce your pore size, decrease acne breakouts, and reduce blemishes.
