First, there was fashion: Hippies wore exaggerated
It was a way to visibly distinguish themselves from the establishment. Peace and Love Ideals: The hippie movement was heavily influenced by ideals of peace, love, and harmony. Long hair was associated with a more natural and free-spirited lifestyle, reflecting the movement's rejection of materialism and conformity.
The hippy movement in the 1960's essentially rejected the notion that leg and armpit shaving was a necessity for women. It's my understanding that many European women do not shave their pits or legs nor was it ever commonplace for them to do so. It's essentially an artificial social construct.
The hippie beard evolution
As hippie and disco culture grew, so too did the trend for facial hair. Sideburns, moustaches and beards – and hair generally for that matter – was left to its own devices, resulting in a hirsute, free loving generation.
Hippies related to the Rastafarian idea of rejecting capitalism and colonialism, symbolized by the name "Babylon". Rastafarians rejected Babylon in multiple ways, including by wearing their hair naturally in locs to defy Western standards of beauty.
The bible talks about dreadlocks too: Numbers 6:5 “All the days of his vow of separation, no razor shall touch his head. Until the time is completed for which he separates himself to the Lord, he shall be holy. He shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long.
Because dreadlocks are matted hair, they have the potential to trap odors more than other hairstyles. However, that doesn't mean that dreads always smell bad (or that your locs are doomed to smell bad at one point). If you don't properly care for your dreads, then you could end up with locs that smell bad.
There is no specific ethnicity that can't grow facial hair, but East Asian individuals, such as Japanese and Chinese, tend to have less facial hair and slower growth rates compared to other ethnicities.
Leviticus 19:27 in Other Translations

Hippies were largely a white, middle-class group of teenagers and twentysomethings who belonged to what demographers call the baby-boom generation. They felt alienated from middle-class society, which they saw as dominated by materialism and repression.

In Korea, pubic hair has long been considered a sign of fertility and sexual health, and it has been reported in the mid-2010s that some Korean women were undergoing pubic hair transplants, to add extra hair, especially when affected by the condition of pubic atrichosis (or hypotrichosis), which is thought to affect a ...
They were known for their long hair, colourful clothes and love of life and freedom. Hippies are also known as flower children, free spirits, indigo children and bohemians. Whilst listening to Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, hippies promoted freedom, peace and love above everything.
Blue jeans were the clothing that represented the youthful, free love movement that changed American culture. To hippies, it stood for freedom.
1960s hairstyle overview
During the Civil Rights Movement, natural hair and afros became a symbol of African American pride. Hair length was also used to challenge gender norms, like with pixie cuts on women and long styles on men. Generally, hairstyles became fuller and longer with an emphasis on big curls and volume.
It depends on who you ask. There are some Christians who believe it is a sin. The verse in the Bible that most Christians make reference to is Leviticus 19:28, which says,"You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord." So, why is this verse in the Bible?
The majority of Muslim scholars consider that it is forbidden (haram) to shave the beard as it would be neglecting the tradition and established practice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who encouraged followers to strive to imitate him in every way.
Historical appearance
Scholars have also suggested that it is likely Jesus had short hair and a beard, in accordance with Jewish practices of the time and the appearance of philosophers. The earliest depictions of Jesus from the Roman catacombs depict him as free of facial hair.
Anthropologist Joseph Deniker said in 1901 that the very hirsute peoples are the Ainus, Uyghurs, Iranians, Australian aborigines (Arnhem Land being less hairy), Toda, Dravidians and Melanesians, while the most glabrous peoples are the Indigenous Americans, San, and East Asians, who include Chinese, Koreans, Mongols, ...

Asian hair and Caucasian hair handle stress and fatigue well. Asian hair has the highest hardness and elasticity. It is resistant to stretching and can withstand a traction force of 60 to 65 grams.
