If you require pain medication after treatment, you can take paracetamol, but avoid anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and aspirin, as these thin the blood, which can exacerbate any bruising.
Ice Packs can be applied periodically to reduce swelling. You may also take pain medications, such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.; however, taking Ibuprofen or Aspirin may exacerbate bruising, as they have blood thinning properties. You can take arnica to help heal bruising and swelling post procedure.
You may resume normal activities the following day. Avoid sunbathing and excessive UV exposure until all redness, swelling and bruising have resolved. We recommend avoiding alcoholic beverages for 24 hours and anti-inflammatory drugs for 48 hours after your procedure.
Swelling will reach its peak at around 24-72 hours after treatment, at which point, it will begin to gradually subside. Occasionally, swelling can last for 1-4 weeks, but this isn't as common. Most people do see an improvement within 3 days.
