I actually prefer to mix the Wella 050 with other blue based Wella Toners to cut through the orange without making the hair too dark. My personal favourite combination of toners to fix orange tones are the Wella 050 Cooling Violet Toner with Wella T14 Pale Ash Blonde (50% of each).
T14 is a hair toner from the Wella Color Charm line, specifically designed for neutralizing unwanted warm or brassy tones in blonde hair. When used on orange brassy hair, T14 can help achieve a cooler, more ashy blonde tone. Here's how it works:
Comments452 If your hair after bleaching is an orange tone, you use wella T14 (blue base). If your hair is more of a yellow tone after bleaching, use wella T18 (purple/violet base). If you put T14 on yellow hair, it will turn slightly green.
Blue Toner: Look for a blue toner or a blue shampoo/conditioner that can help tone down the orange. Brands like Wella, Pravana, and Matrix offer blue toners specifically designed for this purpose. Blue-Violet Toner: If your hair has a more brassy, golden tone, a blue-violet toner can also be effective.
The toner from Wella can help to take out the brassiness and make the hair less orange.
Creates a beautiful, cool natural blonde while toning away brassy yellow and orange tones.
Creates a rich honey beige blonde. Can be used to fix brassy orange hair to transform it to a more flattering warm shade.
For lightened brunettes and dark blondes, a blue toner for orange hair—namely, blue shampoo—will be your best friend. As you can probably imagine, blue shampoo contains cobalt-colored pigments that help offset orange and other copper-leaning tones.
HAIR COLOR REMOVER: Color Oops Hair Color Remover safely removes brown, black, red, and orange permanent hair dye that was dyed with a developer. Does not remove direct-application dyes or bold shades, such as pinks, purples, blues, or greens.
T10 Pale Blonde Hair Toner. Creates a warm, light blonde shade with a subtle silver shimmer in light blonde or white hair.
T14 is a pale ash blonde with violet-blue tones, making it better for hair that still has some orange left in it. T18, on the other hand, is Lightest Ash Blonde with only a violet base. Violet cancels out yellow while blue cancels out orange.
Level 9 toners play a crucial role in the color correction process, especially when faced with stubborn orange undertones. They are particularly useful when client don't want to bleach the hair any more.
The toner was left on the hair for 15 minutes. You can leave it on longer depending on how porous and brassy your hair is. Do keep an eye on the hair and keep in mind that the longer you leave it, the more ashy it will turn out.
The Wella T15 is really designed for hair that's lighter than the orange, so you won't get the full effect of the toner. However, you will see that it's reduced some of the brassiness while keeping the hair a warm tone.
ion Color Brilliance Bright White Toners help remove unwanted brassy tones or warm tones in hair. They can also be used to add cool, white and pastel tones. With maximum light reflection and shine, you can use multiple shades at once to create a multi-tone effect.
Your stylist's colour-correction methods may vary, but it's likely they'll reapply bleach to lighten your hair to fully remove the orange, then tone your hair with an ash or light beige colour to neutralise brassiness.
Using a blue-tinted toner is your best option for neutralizing orange tones after lightening your hair. Professional-grade toners, like Pureology's Color Fanatic Top Coat + Tone Blue, are specifically formulated for pre-lightened brunettes and dark blondes.
You've got it: blue! Since red and yellow make orange, that means blue is the missing primary color. Blue and orange are complements on the color wheel, which means that blue will neutralize an orange hair color.
The most powerful toner against orange tones is the Wella Colour Charm Toner in 050 Cooling Violet. Used alone on blonde hair this gives a steel grey result. Used alone on orange hair this will really reduce the orange tones and leave you with an ashy dark blonde/light brown result.
The t14 is blue based and the strongest for neutralizing out the orange! However it won't make it a pale blonde it will still be the same level of darkness, If you want it lighter you'll have to bleach it again, but if you just want to get rid of the orange then the t14 will be your friend!
This shade is designed to be added in to other toners or used alone. If you're adding in to other toners, simply add in a splash or a few capfuls to your toning mixture and follow the instructions as normal. If you're using alone, pop on some gloves. Then, mix your toner with developer (either 20 Vol or 10 Vol).
