Final BBL Results By this time, post-surgical side effects will have subsided to reveal a curvier and softer buttock. Furthermore, it takes 3-6 months for the final volume of fat grafts to settle, given that the body absorbs 30-50% of fat cells injected into the buttock.
The 3-6 months following your BBL surgery is a critical period for these new fat cells. It's during this time that they become integrated into their new location, stabilise, and ideally, become a permanent part of the enhanced shape and size of your buttocks.
It is normal after surgery for the buttocks to shrink slightly due to swelling and inflammation from the fat grafting. However, once the fat graft takes, which could take anywhere between three weeks and three months, you'll notice some fluffing and the buttocks starting to look nice and round.
The fluffing stage typically begins around 3 months post-BBL. Residual swelling subsides, and the skin stretches to accommodate newly injected fat. Individual experiences vary based on factors like skin elasticity and age. Final results generally stabilize around 6 to 8 months post-surgery.
Understanding Fat Feeding After BBL
This process takes about 3-6 months, during which our bodies require extra support to promote optimal results.
In fact, wearing a garment that's too tight can negatively impact your BBL results, says Dr. Franco, who adds that it's a common mistake patients make.
One of the challenges for patients who undergo a BBL is sleeping. While laying down doesn't put as much pressure on your buttocks as sitting down after a BBL, you should still be cautious. It's usually recommended to avoid sleeping on your back for about eight weeks, the same length of time you should avoid sitting.
Squat or Stretch- Similar to sitting, these activities increase pressure on your buttock and can cause damage or shift the transferred fat.
For the first six weeks following your BBL surgery, it's essential to wear your faja 24 hours a day, except when bathing or laundering the garment.
The timeline for sitting without a BBL pillow varies from patient to patient, depending on individual healing rates, the volume of fat transferred, and the technique used by the surgeon. Generally, surgeons recommend avoiding direct sitting on the buttocks for at least two to six weeks post-surgery.
Ideally, I recommend being at or near your goal weight prior to having a procedure. Losing 20 pounds or more after surgery could change the overall aesthetic appearance of your results, although this will depend on the quality and stability of a person's tissues.
Signs of fluffing after BBL
The skin of your buttocks will start to become softer, more elastic, and generally less tense. The shape of the buttocks becomes rounder and should start to feel and look more natural as the skin stretches to accommodate the newly introduced fat.
Remember that if you squeeze the newly transferred fat by any means, it may kill or ruin the cells. That is why it is essential to make sure you do not wear restrictive or tight clothes during your recovery process.
A BBL gone wrong can manifest in several ways, including uneven buttocks, lumps, disproportionate contours, scarring, and chronic pain. For instance, incidents of botched BBL procedures have led to severe complications, as highlighted by the story of a woman who experienced damaged, rotting skin after her procedure.
DON'T Massage the buttock or any area where fat was transferred. This needs to heal without disruption. Massage is ideally performed under the direction of a massage therapist (preferably one trained in lymphatic massage). This can be started immediately and a typical protocol would be 2-3 x per week for 2 – 3 weeks.
This garment should be worn at all times for the designated duration of time and should only be removed to bathe or shower. After your initial follow-up appointment, your surgeon will advise you as to when you can begin removing the compression garment and for how long.
For at least two months following your butt lift, you'll need to avoid wearing very tight pants, like fitted jeans or leggings. Wearing tight pants can damage the recently-placed fat cells, causing your body to excrete them rather than allowing them to establish and grow properly.
How Long Should I Wear my Stage 2 Faja? After you switch over to your Stage 2 faja, you should wear it for six months. You should plan to sleep in your Stage 2 faja as well. Throughout the entire day, your goal should be to have your Stage 2 faja at all hours except for when you are showering or washing your garment.
The BBL smell is often described as musty or slightly sour, but it should not be overpowering.
In fact, squats and other exercises could boost your BBL rather than harm it. No matter what, exercise is healthy, and your health is important. So, as soon as you are cleared to do so, start working out after your BBL.
After a few weeks, the fat that survives develops its blood supply and integrates naturally into the fat there. Transferred fat should live indefinitely in the buttocks, and Brazilian butt lift results are usually permanent.
What does fluffing feel like? As you enter the fluffing stage of your BBL recovery, the last bit of swelling will subside and your skin will no longer feel stiff. Your butt will begin to look more natural and take on a rounder shape, and you should be free of any pain or discomfort by this time.
